Would Kacey Musgraves Leave Tennessee in Search of NYC’s Greener Pastures?

Kacey Musgraves says, “In my mind, we’re in New York,” in the song “Too Good to be True,” which is taken from her recently released album, Deeper Well. “It was somewhere you had never been / But now it’s our town, baby.” The Tennessee native’s interpretation of the song’s lyrics may soon change since, as People reports, Musgraves has been idly perusing internet real estate listings in New York City.
The seven-time Grammy winner said to the site, “Girl, I’m always browsing Zillow late at night, acting like a fool—it’s my favorite.” “I have a community in Nashville that I know I couldn’t find anywhere else, but I wouldn’t rule it out.” Musgraves said that she purchased a “cottage” in a Tennessee woodland at the same time that she sold the Nashville mansion that was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest in May 2022 in an interview with The Cut earlier this month. “Heart of the Woods,” the eighth tune on the album, was inspired by the singer’s new residence, according to a recent interview with Vogue.

Even while it seems Musgraves won’t be moving away from Nashville anytime soon, maybe a weekend residence in New York City is in order? She told People, “I feel really inspired to create there, I think New York City is a very special place.” The country-pop singer used Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, to record her sixth studio album, Deeper Well. She was back in the region recently to promote her new candle with Boy Smells, which is inspired by Deeper Well, and to make a musical guest appearance on Saturday Night Live.
“I think there’s something kind of electrically charged about New York, with humanity being so stacked on top of each other,” Musgraves said in a lyrical interview with Vogue on the city’s inspirational spirit. In a situation like that, when millions of people are gathered in one place and attempting to navigate life together, emotions are greatly heightened.
