With their victory against Forest, Man City keeps pressure on Arsenal.

With goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland, Man City defeated relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday, moving one step closer to winning a fourth straight Premier League crown.
With a game remaining, Pep Guardiola’s team managed to close the gap on leaders Arsenal and get to within one point of the Gunners, who managed to win 3-2 against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the day.

“I think the most important thing is to not think [about the title race], especially these moments, but take it day by day,” Haaland said to Sky Sports. “Honestly if you overthink, you’re going to be crazy in your head, so relax now, enjoy, focus on the next one.”
At the sun-drenched City Ground, Forest and City had played to a draw in the first half. In the 32nd minute, Gvardiol put the holders ahead with his second league goal of the season, heading in a corner kick from Kevin De Bruyne’s near post. Neco Williams’ injury at the moment left Forest with only 10 players on the field.
Regarding the championship race, Gvardiol said, “We need to be focused on ourselves, and that’s what we’re doing. I didn’t expect to score, but I found myself in a terrific position. Let’s go, we have four finals left to go.
Haaland’s first appearance after missing two games due to a muscle injury came as a substitute, and he quickly made an impression.
In the 71st minute, the striker from Norway received a ball from De Bruyne, took three steps, and fired it into the far corner for his 21st goal of the season—a league-high 21. He had previously been on par with Cole Palmer of Chelsea.
“It was more than hard, such a difficult game but we knew that,” stated Guardiola. It is always challenging since the game we played in Brighton (a 4-0 victory on Thursday) seems like it was just a few hours ago.
Guardiola said that his team did not have any more pressure to start after Arsenal’s victory.
The Spaniard said, “How you play is the pressure.” “If you play good and control the game then people say you don’t feel the pressure, if you play bad people say you feel the pressure.”
A point above the drop zone in 17th place, Forest didn’t seem to be a side that might be relegated, and numerous times, traveling City supporters, notably singer Noel Gallagher, let out sighs of relief.
With his foot twisted in front of the net, Chris Wood missed a wide-open goal that would have given the home team a 14–11 shooting advantage against City.
Since December 30, Forest has only won two of their previous 15 league games—a dismal record that has been overshadowed by their off-field issues.
Last month, they received a four-point deduction for breaking the Premier League’s sustainability and profitability regulations. They’ve filed an appeal of the ruling.
In a furious statement released on social media site X after their Sunday defeat to Everton, Forest also criticized Premier League refereeing standards, which prompted the FA to open an inquiry against the team.
Nonetheless, Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager, was happy with the fight his team shown.
The Wolves coach said, “We had chances, we were compact, we played a good game.” “We performed admirably, considering the opponent’s difficulty playing City. With our mindset and style of play, we’ll accomplish our goal [avoiding relegation], which is more significant.”
At halftime, City’s Stefan Ortega took Éderson’s spot in goal. Due to sickness, Phil Foden, who had scored five goals in his previous two league games, was also absent for the visitors.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham United are City’s last four opponents.
