What do you mean, ‘boyfriend’? Following the Darius Jackson scandal, Keke Palmer appears in an Usher music video.

Dancing at Usher’s Las Vegas residency — and receiving heat from ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson — was only the beginning of Keke Palmer’s fantasy come true.

Palmer collaborated with Usher on a new song named “Boyfriend,” which was released on Wednesday. Isn’t it a tribute to Jackson and his contentious views on Palmer? A music video was also released by the pair.

Palmer and Usher both uploaded clips of the “Boyfriend” video on social media on Tuesday, revealing the surprise collaboration.

“Somebody said your boyfriend’s looking for me / Oh, that’s cool, that’s cool,” Usher sings over a lighthearted, bass-heavy tune. “Well, he should know that I’m pretty easy to find / He just needs to look for me wherever he sees you.”

Palmer is a big admirer of her “Hustlers” co-star, so she naturally portrays one in the song video. While getting ready for a night out, she lip-syncs his songs and dances with her gal buddies. Palmer experiences a vision of her hero in a lift, which leads to a joyful dance routine.

Palmer and Usher wear similar clothes at a Vegas casino, complete with loose pants, aviators, white T-shirts, and Navy-style jackets, and show off some nifty dancing.

“I follow you wherever you go,” Usher sings. When Palmer wakes up in her hotel room, the dance routine suddenly stops. She had overslept and therefore missed his show.

“I was so tired, and I’m a mother — after all,” she adds, winking at the camera. Does this sound familiar?

Now, how does Jackson fit into all of this? In July, a video of Palmer being serenaded by Usher at one of his residency gigs went viral. The singers hugged and performed to Usher’s “There Goes My Baby.” Soon after, Jackson, who had a baby with Palmer in February, responded to the tape criticising the “Nope” singer’s sheer, polka dot attire.

“It’s the outfit, tho..you a mum,” Jackson remarked in a now-deleted post. Palmer’s Twitter followers were outraged by his comments and called him out for embarrassing his girlfriend.

The response did not seem to bother Jackson, who dug down on his views in a subsequent tweet.

“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want his wife and mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” Jackson added. “This is my family, and this is my representation.” I have principles and standards for what I believe. “I submit my case.”

That statement generated even more criticism, and Jackson finally blocked himself on Twitter. Jackson’s Twitter (now X) became public again on Wednesday. He deleted Palmer photographs from his social media profiles, and the two no longer follow each other on Instagram.

Palmer seemed unconcerned by her ex’s Twitter drama as she busted moves in a TikTok video.

“You ain’t stoppin’ what’s goin’ on with me, sweetheart,” Palmer lip-synced.”So if you’re going to act up, I’m gonna link up, I’m gonna link up, I’m gonna link up.”

If “Boyfriend” shows anything, it’s that Palmer kept her promise and teamed up — with eight-time Grammy winner Usher.

“You’ve been murdering it my whole life. “Your talent and craftsmanship are a rare combination that I aspire to achieve as a performer,” she wrote of the musician in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “You are a living legend deserving of awe!” Thank you for believing in me and seeing me as the performer that I am.”

“I know I’m a gUrL, but when I watched your videos, I never wanted to be the girl in them; I wanted to be YOU,” she said. Thank you for making my dream a reality.”
