Week 13 NFL predictions, schedule, odds, injuries, stats, fantasy tips

We’ve got Week 13 of the 2022 NFL season covered. NFL Nation correspondents offer important matchups and bold predictions.

ESPN Stats & Information gives a significant stat and betting nugget for each game, and our Football Power Index (FPI) provides game projections. Kyle Soppe of ESPN provides fantasy football advice. Seth Walder and Eric Moody give final score picks. Everything you need to know to prepare for an NFL weekend is here.

Mike McDaniel faces his old squad in Week 13, and the first two playoff clinching scenarios are set (Eagles with a win and losses by Washington, Seattle and San Francisco; and Vikings with a win and a Lions loss). The Saints and Buccaneers play on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. (Sunday games unless noted.)

Eagles at Titans (7-4) (10-1)

Fox | 1 p.m. PHI-5 (44.5)

Observe: Over the previous four games, the Eagles rush defence has allowed 525 yards (131.5 per game), ranking 23rd. Now it faces Derrick Henry, the second-leading rusher (1,048). Jordan Davis (high ankle sprain) can return this week. His presence would help Philadelphia’s defence cope without safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, kidney injury. McManus

Henry will sprint 100 yards and Burks will catch 100. Henry has struggled the past three games, but Ben Jones’ return will help. The Titans have had only two 100-yard receiving games, but they’ll give Burks every chance to shine against A.J. Brown and the Eagles. Davenport Turron

Titans are 5-1 against the Eagles in their last six meetings (dating back to when the team moved from Houston to Tennessee in 1997).

Titans, Eagles Injuries

Fantasy tips DeVonta Smith scored 15-plus points four times in five games earlier this season, but since Week 7 he hasn’t touched 14. Week 13 standings.

Tennessee is 8-1 ATS in its last nine games, including 4-1 as an underdog. Last week, Cincinnati ended its eight-game cover streak. More.

Bears at Packers (4-8) (3-9)

GB -4.5 (Fox, 1 p.m. ET) (43.5)

Observe: Bears say Justin Fields (shoulder) is day-to-day and their Week 14 bye won’t affect whether he plays on Sunday. Fields was limited Wednesday but fully participated Thursday, so he may not be listed as injured. Aaron Rodgers, who injured his ribs against Philadelphia, expects to play against Chicago and win his eighth straight matchup. A win at Soldier Field would keep the Packers’ postseason hopes alive and banged-up Rodgers on the field. Cronin

Predictions: Bears offence won’t surpass 400 yards. The Bears average 323.3 yards per game, 24th in the NFL. The Packers have allowed 400 yards in three straight games. The Packers haven’t allowed four straight since 1983. Jalen Hurts carried for 157 yards for the Eagles on Sunday. Depending on Fields’ status, they could face another running QB on Sunday. Demovsky

FACT: The Packers and Bears have 17 total losses this season, their most ever entering a game (also happened in 1973 and 1969). Both teams will have losing records for the first time since 2003.

Packers|Bears injuries

Fantasy tips David Montgomery has scored double-digit fantasy points in consecutive games for the first time this season. He wants to extend that streak to three against a Packers club he gashed for 122 rushing yards in Week 2. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Green Bay has lost six straight ATS games as a favourite this season (1-6). Packers are 0-2 as road favourites this season (0-5 ATS, 1-4 SU in the past five games as a road favorite). More.

Packers 24, Bears 14 (Moody’s pick)

Packers 30, Bears 17 (Walder’s pick)

FPI: GB 62.3% (by an average of 3.7 points)

Must-reads: Rodgers will start Sunday despite Love’s development. Justin Fields’ epileptic journey… Rodgers will consider switching QBs if the Packers are eliminated. Eddie Jackson’s foot injury ends his season

Vikings at Jets (7-4) (9-2)

CBS | 1 p.m. MIN-3 (44.5)

Observe: Both teams have unique histories. The Vikings can win the NFC North with a win, a Lions defeat, or a draw with the Jaguars. Only their third division title in 13 years. An eighth Jets win would be their most through 12 games since 2010. Mike White, an accurate short-range passer, must exploit the Vikings’ soft zone coverage to win. Vikings rank 32nd in yards per attempt allowed (8.25). Seifert

Predictions: White will throw for 275 yards against the Vikings’ zone defence. ESPN Stats & Information says the Vikings use Cover 2 most. White’s strength is his patience and desire to dink and dunk instead of playing “hero ball.” White tossed for 315 yards against a leaky Bears defence; the Vikings allow the 30th-most yards. Cimini

FACT: The Jets’ 4-1 road record is tied for second in the NFL (Eagles 5-0, Chiefs/Vikings 4-1). In Week 11, the Patriots beat them 7-0 on a punt return touchdown.

Jets, Vikings injuries

Fantasy tips Zach Wilson’s starter Garrett Wilson has 319 yards and no touchdowns. In the other four games, Garrett had 309 yards and four touchdowns. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Minnesota is one of three unbeaten favourites this season (8-0). (Washington 4-0, New York Jets 2-0). More.

Vikings 27, Jets 23 (Moody’s choice)

Vikings 24, Jets 19

FPI: MIN, 69.0% (by an average of 5.7 points)

Must-reads: James Robinson is ‘upset’ about his DNP and wonders where he fits. Inside Justin Jefferson’s record-breaking, physics-defying Vikings ascent… Mike White’s big game hasn’t changed the Jets’ QB plan. Vikings may complete their ‘competitive reconstruction’ if they win NFC North.

Giants at Commanders (7-5) (7-4)

WSH -2.5 | 1 p.m. ET | Fox (40.5)

Observe: The Giants have lost three straight and their running game is to blame. In three losses, Saquon Barkley hasn’t rushed for more than 53 yards. New York is 7-1 this season when he rushes for 70 yards. The Giants must get their run game going against the Commanders, who have the NFL’s eighth-best run defence (averaging 108.4 yards per game). Raanan

While Washington emphasises the run game, the Commanders’ passing attack will provide big plays. Terry McLaurin will pass 100 yards, score twice, and make some big play-action plays. If Washington blitzes, it will exploit the Giants’ banged-up secondary. In play-action pass attempts, the Giants rank 29th. McLaurin has averaged 97.3 yards against New York in four outings. Keim John

Commanders have won six straight possession battles. They share the NFL’s longest skid with the Giants (Weeks 4-10).

Commanders, Giants Injuries

Fantasy tips Barkley has had one of the NFL’s heaviest workloads this season, yet he’s gained just 61 yards on 26 attempts since Week 10. Week 13 standings.

In their last seven games, the Commanders are 6-0-1 ATS, including 4-0 on the road. They’re 5-0-1 ATS with Taylor Heinicke as quarterback. More.

Commanders 20, Giants 17

Giants 23, Commanders 14

FPI: WSH 51.2% (by an average of 0.5 points)

Must-reads: Brian Robinson’s development, first 100-yard day boosts Commanders rush game… Odell Beckham Jr. to Giants, Cowboys or Bills? NFC East best NFL division? Giants… McKinney claims he’ll play this season.

Ravens at Broncos (3-8) (7-4)

1:00 ET | CBS | Line: BAL -9 (38.5)

Observe: Lamar Jackson and the Ravens must establish the run early after falling to Jacksonville last week. Baltimore is 27-6 when rushing for over 180 yards, including 4-1 this season. Denver’s defence is good but struggles to stop the run. The Broncos gave up 185 yards rushing last week at Carolina, ranking 19th. Hensley

Predictions: Russell Wilson will have his second two-touchdown game for the Broncos this season. Five opponent quarterbacks have thrown for 300 or more yards against the Ravens this season, but only three have thrown for more than one touchdown. Wilson will win if the Broncos abandon their three-WR set. Legwold

Denver is 0-5 on U.S. roads this season (beat Jaguars in London in Week 8).

Broncos, Ravens injuries

Fantasy tips In the first three weeks of the season, Jackson threw 10 touchdowns and ran for 2. Since then, he’s thrown six touchdowns and run one. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Denver’s 10-1 under record is the league’s best. Denver has gone under in 10 of 11 games since 2011. (Jacksonville and Miami). More.

Pick: 30-9 Ravens

Falcons at Steelers (4-7) (5-7)

1:00 ET | CBS | Line: PIT -1 (42)

Observe: Pittsburgh’s run defence vs. Atlanta’s running offence is an intriguing battle. The Steelers have held all but two opponents to under 125 running yards this season, while the Falcons have carried for over 125 yards in all but two games and are top-five in every rushing measure. This duel will determine Sunday’s winner, given both teams’ offensive and defensive shortcomings. Rothstein

Predictions: Cordarrelle Patterson will score two touchdowns for the Falcons. Mike Tomlin criticised his team’s kickoff coverage after the Indianapolis Colts returned it 89 yards to start the second half. Patterson is a challenge after scoring his ninth kickoff return touchdown this season, but the Steelers may get Robert Spillane and Miles Boykin back. Patterson, a huge back, presents a different challenge for the Steelers’ run defence (6-foot-2, 220 pounds). Pryor

FACT: Steelers have beaten Falcons three straight times. Michael Vick fired four touchdown passes in Atlanta’s last win in 2006.

Steelers, Falcons injuries

Fantasy tips Pickens has six targets in straight games and seven of his last nine. Talent is obvious and worth a bet if you’re stuck. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Pittsburgh is 3-0 ATS in its last three losses. More.

Steelers 27, Falcons 20

Falcons 19, Steelers 16

FPI: 66.3% ATL (by an average of 4.8 points)

Must-reads: Pickett’s era blooms following Indianapolis win. TE Pitts is gone for the season after knee surgery.

at Browns (4-7) (1-9-1)

CLE -7 (CBS, 1 p.m. ET) (47)

Observe: Deshaun Watson will make his regular-season comeback Sunday after completing an 11-game suspension for sexual assault. He last played for the Texans in 2021. Nick Chubb will be crucial for the Browns against the Texans. The Texans have allowed the most running attempts and second-most yards. DJ Bonjour

Chubb (141 yards) and Dameon Pierce (139) will set season highs. Pierce averages 4.4 ypc and Chubb 5.2 this season. Trotter

Browns have won two consecutive versus Texans (2020, 2021). Cleveland has never won three straight (5-7 all-time record).

Browns, Texans injured

Fantasy tips Pierce is averaging less than 1 foot per carry before contact. Not a yard. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Quarterbacks who haven’t started in 500 days and are laying at least seven points in their first start after the layoff are 1-6 ATS in the previous 25 seasons, including 1-3 outright and ATS in the past 15 seasons. More.

Browns 30, Texans 14

Lions at Jaguars (4-7) (4-7)

1:00 ET | Fox | Line: JAX -1 (51.5)

Observe: After losing to Buffalo on Thanksgiving, the Lions host the Jaguars. Jacksonville is coming off a come-from-behind win against the Ravens. Jaguars LB Travon Walker and Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson will play for the first time. Woodyard

Predictions: Both teams will gain over 900 yards. Lions allow 414.5 yards and 28.2 points a game, and Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is hot. In his last three games, he’s thrown six touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 100 passer rating. Jared Goff will throw for 300 yards for the third time this season against the Jaguars (17 sacks). DiRocco Mike

The Jaguars have lost 19 straight against NFC clubs, and the Lions are winless against AFC teams (0-10-1). These are the longest winless streaks against opposing conferences.

Jaguars, Lions injuries

Fantasy tips Jamaal Williams hasn’t caught a catch in four straight games or averaged 4.0 yards per carry, but he’s scored five rushing touchdowns in his last three. Week 13 standings.

Jacksonville is 0-3 ATS this season and 0-6 ATS since 2020 as a favourite. More.

Jaguars 31, Lions 27

Jaguars 28, Lions 22

FPI: JAX 59.0% (by an average of 2.7 points)

Must-reads: Jaguars Lawrence: “I’ve always been this man” NFL prospects Walker and Hutchinson

49ers at Dolphins (8-3) (7-4)

SF -4 (Fox, 1:05 p.m. ET) (46.5)

Miami coach Mike McDaniel faces Kyle Shanahan and the Niners for the first time after 14 years together. These teams run the same offence differently. Dolphins’ speed vs. Niners’ strength. Miami is third in the NFL in yards per play and San Francisco is sixth, so this game could come down to which defence creates more opportunities for its offence. Wagoner

Predictions: The 49ers will allow three explosive plays to Miami, including long touchdowns to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Tua Tagovailoa won’t be fazed by rainy weather and will throw for 300 yards against San Francisco’s defence. Louis-Jacques

Dolphins have won five straight, 49ers four. Nine of the last 10 matchups between teams on four-game winning streaks have been won by the home side. Dolphins | 49ers Injuries

Fantasy tips Brandon Aiyuk has six straight games with seven targets or a touchdown. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Teams with a.700 winning percentage are 17-6 ATS in November or later when getting at least 3.5 points. After Week 17, they’re 15-4 ATS. More.

49ers 34, Dolphins 21

Recommended: 26-20 Dolphins

FPI: SF 65.2% (by an average of 4.5 points)

Must-reads: Terron Armstead (pec) is expected to return this season. Dolphins and 49ers operate similar offences differently. Mitchell’s injured MCL leaves 49ers ‘disappointed’

Rams at Seahawks (6-5) (3-8)

4:05 ET | Fox | Line: SEA -7.5 (41)

With a win on Sunday, the Seahawks can ensure Los Angeles finishes the season with a losing record. With one more loss, the Rams would be the first Super Bowl champion since the 2003 Buccaneers (7-9). Barshop, Sarah

Predictions: Tyler Lockett will catch 100 yards and score. Lockett should see some favourable matchups with DK Metcalf getting double-teamed by All-Pro Jalen Ramsey. Geno Smith should have time to locate Lockett on deep shots without Aaron Donald. Henderson Brady

Smith has thrown multiple touchdown passes in five straight games, an NFL record.

Seahawks, Rams injuries

Kenneth Walker III has nine running touchdowns in his last seven games, but he’s averaged less than 3.0 yards per carry in three of his last four. Week 13 standings.

Tip: Los Angeles is 0-4-1 ATS as an underdog, 1-5 ATS at home, and 0-5 ATS versus winning clubs. More.

Seahawks 30, Rams 20

Seahawks 23, Rams 20

FPI: SEA 65.8% (by an average of 5.1 points)

Must-reads: Seahawks rookie wall in last six games? Donald is injured and will miss his first game. The Seahawks’ defence is slumping, threatening postseason prospects. Long-term Rams contributors

Bengals at Chiefs (9-2) (7-4)

KC -1.5 | 4:25 ET | CBS (52.5)

Observe: The AFC Championship rematch features two great offences. Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow lead the NFL in passing touchdowns. In points per drive, Kansas City is first while Cincinnati is fourth. — Ben Baby

Predictions: Four Chiefs sack Burrow. The Bengals allowed nine sacks against the Titans and seven to the Rams in last year’s AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs are eighth in the league with 35 sacks and 21 in the last five games. Cincinnati is eighth in the NFL with 35 sacks allowed. Teicher

Mahomes is 1-2 versus the Bengals, including the playoffs, with both losses last season (he has never lost three games to the same opponent). He’s the first quarterback since 1950 to start 85 games without losing three to the same opponent.

Chiefs, Bengals injuries

Fantasy tips Tee Higgins has gone over 100 receiving yards in consecutive games (without Ja’Marr Chase). Week 13 standings.

Tip: Since last season, including the playoffs, Cincinnati has covered six straight underdog games. More.

Chiefs 30, Bengals 27

Chiefs 27, Bengals 24

FPI: KC 56.7% (by an average of 2.1 points)

Must-reads: NFL quarterback Mahomes’ wife and son… Chase didn’t play Bengals-Titans for precaution. DT, Williams joins Chiefs’ practise squad Gordon joins Chiefs’ practise squad

Raiders at Chargers (6-5) (4-7)

LV -1.5 at CBS, 4:25 p.m. (50.5)

Observe: Chargers allow 5.4 yards per carry, worst in Super Bowl era. RB Josh Jacobs ran for 229 of his 303 total yards and both touchdowns at Seattle. Las Vegas should beat the Chargers, right? Jacobs has averaged 73.5 yards per game and 4.2 yards per rush in six games against the Chargers and is suffering a strained left calf. Gutierrez

Predictions: Jacobs will rush for 100 yards against the Chargers despite gaining 57 in Week 1. Last season, the Raiders crushed the Chargers’ playoff hopes with an overtime victory, but coach Brandon Staley claimed that “will have zero impact” on Sunday. What matters? The Chargers allow 151.4 yards rushing per game (which ranks 28th). Thiry, Lindsey

FACT: Justin Herbert has 13 TDs and 1 INT versus the Raiders (3-2 record). He’s thrown at least two throwing TDs in five straight games versus the Raiders, tied for the second-longest record (Dave Krieg had seven straight).

Fantasy tips Austin Ekeler got 25 fantasy points last week in Arizona, his sixth such game this season (tied for the most among all flex players). Week 13 standings.

Tip: Three straight underdog wins for Las Vegas. The Raiders are 3-1 ATS as underdogs and 2-5 as favourites. It’s their first home underdog game since Week 18 against the Chargers (Raiders won by three as 3-point home underdogs). More.

Chargers 34, Raiders 27

Raiders 30, Chargers 27

FPI: LV 61.9% (by an average of 3.4 points)

Must-reads: Herbert’s Top 25 Under 25 ranking… Despite a slow start, Raiders players trust Josh McDaniels.

Cowboys at Colts (4-7-1) (8-3)

NBC | 8:20 p.m. ET | Line: DAL -11 (43.5)

Observe: The Cowboys’ next three games are against sub-.500 AFC South opponents, starting with the Colts on Sunday. Mike McCarthy knows December football’s importance. McCarthy’s December coaching record is 42-18. The Cowboys lead the NFL with 45 sacks, which might hurt Matt Ryan, who’s been sacked 32 times in 10 games. Archer

Predictions: Jonathan Taylor will carry for 150 yards or more against a Dallas defence that has previously allowed 200-yard rushers. The Colts have a chance to exploit the Cowboys’ poor run defence. Taylor has battled injuries this season, but he’s averaged five yards per rush in his last five games. Holder

Since 1996, the Colts haven’t won at Dallas. The Colts haven’t beaten Dallas at home since 1996, joining the Chiefs, Texans, and Bengals (0-4).

Colts, Cowboys Injuries

Fantasy tips Fantasy is a game of productivity, and Ezekiel Elliott has scored in each of his last four games. Week 13 standings.

Buccaneers at Saints (4-8) (5-6)

TB -4.0 (ESPN, 8:15 p.m. ET) (40.5)

Observe: Losing to the Browns in Week 12 paved the door for the Saints in 2022. This game has playoff implications. All-Pro right tackle Tristan Wirfs is out with a high ankle sprain, and the Bucs’ defence and offence are struggling. Laine

Saints will win a low-scoring game like last year’s 9-0 win at Tampa Bay. The Saints’ offence has struggled this year and was shut out last week, but the defence has shown some good indications. If Marshon Lattimore returns, expect another excellent effort against Brady, given the Bucs’ offensive struggles. — K.T.

Since joining the Buccaneers in 2020, Tom Brady is 1-5 versus the Saints in the regular season, with this being his only win. In four of those five games, Brady has scored his lowest overall QBR against any opponent since signing with Tampa Bay, including this season’s win.

Saints, Buccaneers injuries

Fantasy tips Mike Evans has scored under 13 fantasy points in eight straight games against the Saints and hasn’t scored 11 in three. Week 13 standings.

New Orleans is 0-5 ATS on the road. More.
