Warriors defeat Heat

Warriors defeat Heat 123-110 thanks to 33 points from Stephen Curry.

Stephen Curry shook Tyler Herro and made it seem so simple as he began his 14th NBA season.

Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a 123-110 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night by scoring 10 of his team-high 33 points during a tense fourth quarter. He also had nine assists and seven rebounds.

After a spectacular play in which he crossed over twice to lose Herro, then stepped back and sank a 3-pointer with 5:32 left to give Golden State the lead 108-100, he hammered his chest with both fists and yelled in glee.

Teammate Draymond Green agreed, saying, “It was a tremendous move.” “He arrived at the desired location. He was pretty much out when Tyler opened his rear leg out for him. It’s assumed that Steph will play well to begin this year because of how amazing he is. He keeps becoming better, which is unsettling because that man is already getting better. It’s entertaining to see and rather fascinating.”

Curry sealed the deal with a driving layup at 3:15, a 3-pointer at 2:40, and a deep jumper at 2:04. In each of his four home games, he has scored 30 points or more.

Lowry had a chance to tie it with 6:11 left but missed a three-point attempt from the top. Following Tuesday’s crushing 134-105 loss in Phoenix, in which disgruntled Thompson was dismissed for the first time in his career, the Warriors recovered with a dunk from Kevon Looney.

Thompson played for an additional 29 minutes the next night. Curry’s Splash Brother had been 8 of 28 from 3-point range before to a 5-for-14 performance against the Heat. He is still working his way up to playing his full minutes. On Tuesday, he missed all five of his tries against the Suns.
