USA Basketball Club Championships 2024: Rock Hill, South Carolina, will host the tournament

The 2024 USA Basketball Club Championships, which will take place in Rock Hill, South Carolina, from July 22–30, will revive the national youth tournament cycle for USA Basketball after a frenetic three days during the June U.S. Open Basketball Championships.
Taking place at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center, the tournament route tier of the NCAA College Basketball Academy is intended to provide prospective men’s and women’s college basketball players with an overview of what to expect during a regular student-athlete experience.

The men’s tournament, scheduled for July 22–26, will include 16 teams in the ninth grade and 24 teams in the tenth grade. The women’s competition, which follows the same schedule as before, takes place from July 26 to July 30.
The sixteen teams that compete in the men’s and women’s ninth-grade tournaments will begin the Club Championships by forming four pools of four squads each. The top two teams in each bucket go on to the Gold bracket after two pool play games, with the remaining teams competing in the Silver tournament.
Conversely, in eight pools of three, the tenth graders will begin their Club Championship trip.
The top two teams in each pool will go on to the Gold rounds, much as the ninth graders. However, after losing in the Round of 16 in the Gold bracket, the eight teams who make it to the Silver circuit will have earned their seats. The teams who finish third in each pool will punch their ticket into a Bronze bracket consisting of eight teams.
On the last day of play, there will also be a broadcast of the championship matches in the Gold bracket for the ninth and tenth grade divisions.
Nearly all of the 80 teams competing in this year’s Club Championships in Rock Hill were awarded at-large bids by the USA Basketball selection committee. For the defending champion of the 2023 U.S. Open Basketball Championships, one bid was set aside.
Aside from the basketball court, prospective college players will participate in a range of life skills workshops covering topics such as NCAA compliance and eligibility, the recruitment process, opportunities related to name, image, and likeness, agents, and the transfer portal.
Teams are expected to attend these seminars every day of their stay in South Carolina, accompanied by their coaches. Separate, concurrent life skills classes for parents and chaperones will also be held.
Under USA Basketball’s youth initiative banner, the men’s and women’s Club Championships have the same goal as the U.S. Open Basketball Championships: to bring opportunity, standards, and quality to the grassroots basketball environment. Every USA Basketball national tournament places a high priority on adhering to the organization’s young rules, which include appropriate player segmentation, safety protocols, and an added element of fun and competitiveness.
To guarantee the safest, most rewarding collegiate-level exposure for basketball’s next generation, all NCAA staff members have undergone background checks via Safe Sport and are accredited with a USA Basketball Gold License.
