Following the Tennessee Titans’ dominant victory in primetime against the Green Bay Packers, the team’s offensive coordinator was pulled over early on Friday morning and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Friday morning at around 2:30 in the morning, a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol located in Williamson County pulled over Todd Downing for speeding. The trooper made the complaint that Downing displayed “signs of impairment” and subsequently arrested him as a result. Just after 4:30 in the morning, he was taken into custody and then released from the Williamson County Jail a few hours later.
Both reckless driving and driving under the influence were charges brought against Downing.
Ryan Tannehill threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans during their recent victory over the Packers in Green Bay on Thursday night. The victory was a significant one for the Titans. On 28 runs, running back Derrick Henry was only able to gain 87 yards and score one touchdown. This would have been a solid night for most running backs. In the third quarter, Henry also added another touchdown to the scoreboard by completing a jump throw of 3 yards to Austin Hooper.
In response to allegations that Todd Downing had been arrested, the Titans have issued the following statement: “We are aware of the reports about Todd Downing and are in the process of obtaining further information.”
