In the playoffs’ Wild Card round, the Browns and Texans will play one other.
The Texans secured a postseason spot on Saturday night by defeating the Colts 23-19. The Texans then won the AFC South division after the Jaguars’ 28-20 defeat to the Titans on Sunday.
In Houston’s game that sealed the playoffs, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 20 of 26 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Stroud gave the offense an early lead in the first quarter with a 75-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver Nico Collins on their first offensive play. Then, late in the fourth quarter, RB Devin Singletary ran three yards for a touchdown to give the Texans a 23-17 lead once again. With one second remaining in the game, the Colts managed to score a safety, but they failed to convert their last offensive opportunity, allowing the Texans to win 23–19.
In Week 16, the fifth-seeded Browns of the AFC went to Houston to play the fourth-seeded Texans. The Browns came out on top, winning 36–22. The Browns needed the victory to demonstrate their ability to play just as well away from home as they did during the regular season.
The Browns will need to depend on their prior road experience against the Texans in Houston as their Wild Card game is away. With Stroud leading the offensive this time, things will be different. Stroud did not play against the Texans because he was in the concussion protocol. After making a comeback in Week 17, Stroud guided the Texans to a postseason spot in Week 18.
The Browns are making their playoff debut for the first time since 2020, when they defeated the Steelers in the Wild Card game before falling to the Chiefs in the divisional round.
The Browns and Texans game time will be revealed later on Sunday night.
