to watch players
MLB players Yoán Moncada, the team’s top OPS performer at third base, and outfielder Luis Robert are among the Cuban roster’s MLB representatives. Miguel Romero, an employee of the Athletics, has been in charge of their pitching staff. He has pitched eight innings without allowing a run while striking out 12 batters and walking none in his four outings thus far.
A who’s who of MLB position players make up Team USA, in contrast. Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Mike Trout, and Mookie Betts are present. And that’s without mentioning Tim Anderson, Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto, or any of the other really good batters. With 10 or more at-bats, Trout has the highest OPS of any Team USA player.
Statistically, we favour Americans. Although Wainwright’s difficulties this spring clearly worry us, their performance has been patchy at times throughout this competition. Yet against Elas and company, this roster ought to be able to deliver enough blows to advance Team USA to the championship round once again.
