Taylor Swift pays Eras Tour truck drivers $100,000 in ‘life-changing’ incentives.

On the eve of ending up the US leg of her massively successful Eras Tour, Swift gave a large bonus to a number of crew members who had done significant heavy lifting on the road with her, including the tour’s truck drivers.

Swift astounded the tour’s trucking crew by handing each driver a $100,000 cheque, according to Michael Scherkenbach, president and CEO of Denver, Colorado-based Shomotion transportation firm.

According to him, Shomotion is one of two transport firms utilised by the trip. “My company handles the transportation of the stage and structure, which is basically the skeleton on which everything at the concert venue hangs.”

While Scherkenbach would not say how many of his employees earned the six-figure incentive, he did say it included approximately 50 members of the combined trucking teams.

He claims that the “generous” sum much surpasses the normal anticipated bonus. “The average amount is $5,000 to $10,000.” So this enormous sum is incredible.”

But it’s also a “life-changing” sum of money, according to Scherkenbach.

“These men and women make their living on the road.” “They sleep all day and work all night,” he said. “It’s a difficult assignment. They abandon their families, including little children, for many weeks. They’ve been gone for 24 weeks for Taylor’s tour.”

According to him, $100,000 is enough for a down payment on a home or college tuition for a kid. “Look, a decent income does not put you in a position to purchase a property. But this opens the door to that possibility.”

A chance encounter

Scherkenbach claimed his drivers were taken aback when they were summoned to what they mistook was a typical production meeting on Monday. It was far from that.

Swift’s father, Scott Swift, then paid a surprise visit.

“The Taylor family is always present and kind to our drivers, but Scott doesn’t generally lead the meeting,” Scherkenbach said. “Scott gave a speech in which he stated that he had discussed this with Taylor and that they both agreed that it was only fair that everyone received a bonus.” Taylor insisted on drafting a handwritten message to each driver and [adding] a wax seal with her monogram on the envelope.”

The amount of the bonus was written on each envelope. “They didn’t want to be overly rude and look at it.” But one motorist believed it stated $1,000, another thought it said $10,000, and the third replied, ‘Well, this has to be a prank!’” Scherkenbach explained. Following the letter, the checks were distributed together with the accompanying tax paperwork.

Scherkenbach also said that other tour crew members, such as those in catering, video, audio, and lighting, earned incentives in addition to his employees.
