Jimmy Garoppolo, quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders, will be punished for two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, league sources informed ESPN.
According to reports, the rules breach stemmed from Garoppolo utilizing a prescription drug without a proper therapeutic use exemption from the league.

Garoppolo will not appeal his punishment and will miss the first two games of the 2024 season, according to sources.
According to sources, the Raiders want to release Garoppolo before the fifth day of the new league year in mid-March, when he will collect a $11.25 million roster bonus. Garoppolo also has a $11.25 million basic pay guarantee for the 2024 season, which may be invalidated due to his suspension.
In March, while Josh McDaniels was the head coach and Dave Ziegler was the general manager, the quarterback agreed to a three-year, $72.75 million deal with Las Vegas, with $33.75 million guaranteed.
With Antonio Pierce as coach and Tom Telesco as general manager, there is no relationship or dedication to Garoppolo. The Raiders will attempt to acquire another quarterback in the draft, with some in the NFL speculating that Las Vegas might make a strong move to trade up from its current No. 13 choice.
Once Garoppolo is officially released, the Raiders will have two quarterbacks on their roster: Aidan O’Connell and veteran Brian Hoyer, who has links to McDaniels and Ziegler from their time in New England.
Garoppolo, 32, is anticipated to search for his third club in as many seasons, having played for the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 before leaving to join as a free agency with the Raiders in 2023.
According to NFL regulations, he will be permitted to participate in all offseason activities and training camp with whatever club he joins with, but once the regular season starts, he will be excluded from his new squad for two weeks due to his suspension.
