Shakira and Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler are still going on dates.
“They’ve been out a few times, but things are very new, and it’s too early to tell if there’s long-term potential there,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly, adding that their 13-year age gap “doesn’t bother” Shakira, 46, “at all.”
“Jimmy makes Shakira smile, and she feels happy spending time with him,” the person said.
period Shakira’s children have long been fans of the sport — she has boys Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, with ex Gerard Piqué — she and Butler “have only known each other for a short while, and just recently started following each other on social media,” according to Us. Butler “liked” a video of Shakira’s acoustic performance on Instagram after she posted a video of herself cheering for the Miami Heat during a game in May.
Shakira and Piqué, 36, divorced in June 2022 after more than ten years of marriage. Despite accusations that the football player had been unfaithful to Shakira, neither celebrity has addressed the allegations. Piqué was sighted dating model Clara Cha in August 2022, not long after the separation was announced. Piqué announced their engagement in February.
Shakira has made no secret of how difficult the separation — and Piqué’s new romance — has been for her, mocking her former and Cha’s relationship in her January hit “BZRP Music Session #53,” which she co-wrote with DJ Bizarrap.
“You thought you’d hurt me, but you’ve made me tougher,” she sings in Spanish. “No hard feelings, baby; I wish you the best with my supposed replacement.”
While her father, William Mebarak Chadid, was in the hospital, Shakira confessed that she had been “betrayed” by her ex.
“[My father] went to Barcelona to console me after I was consumed with sadness due to my separation,” she told People en Espaol in June. “He was seriously wounded in an accident while attending [my son] Milan’s first communion. Everything occurred at the same time. My house was in disarray. While my father was in the intensive care unit, I was learning through the news that I had been deceived.”
