Seven-year wife Rory McIlroy seeks for divorce

Seven-year wife Rory McIlroy seeks for divorce

Rory McIlroy, the four-time major winner, filed for divorce from his wife Erica on Monday, according to court records in Palm Beach County, Florida’s family court.
Through his manager, Sean O’Flaherty, McIlroy, 35, who is competing in this week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, announced the impending split.

In the statement, O’Flaherty said, “Rory McIlroy’s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed.” “They emphasised Rory’s want to make this difficult moment as polite and courteous as possible. He’s going to stop commenting now.”
Poppy, McIlroy’s 3-year-old daughter, is the child of his wife.
At the 2012 Ryder Cup, McIlroy made his wife, the former Erica Stoll, his friend. Two years after McIlroy’s breakup with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, they began dating.
In 2017, McIlroy and Stoll tied the knot in Ireland.
ESPN was provided with a copy of the court document authored by McIlroy’s counsel, in which they said that the marriage is irretrievably dissolved. They requested that a court uphold the terms of a prenuptial agreement that the couple signed on March 7, 2017, as well as joint parental custody of their daughter.
The divorce’s cause was not immediately apparent. The request for a dissolution of marriage was submitted in private.
Tiger Woods was also represented by McIlroy’s lawyer, Thomas J. Sasser, during his 2010 divorce from Elin Nordegren.
