Because of the current actors’ strike, Gomez is unable to promote her Hulu series. She did, however, chat to The Wrap before to the strike about shooting the third season earlier this year.
“Working with her, for any actor, I would assume, it takes your breath away to be around someone who is a part of history, who has paved the way for so many actresses and told so many powerful stories and is recognised for that,” she said. And she couldn’t have been more modest, kind, or just gorgeous. I’m not sure how to put it. She was always kind and on time, and she never glanced at her script. It was quite motivating.”
Gomez also discussed how much influence she has had on the development of her character Mabel, given that she also produces the programme. “Being an executive producer on this was a lovely surprise,” she started. “Because they were open to the idea of me being a part of creating Mabel from the start.” When we initially spoke about who she was, I had just returned from CrimeCon, which is a conference where we attempt to solve a genuine cold case. I went with my mother for the three-day weekend. And we just ended up talking about all these various mystery tales and the concept of me as a character being interested (actual crime). What would I wear? How would I put it? And now that I’m a part of it, I can say, ‘I don’t think that sounds right.’ Even down to specific situations. There was one that I felt was a touch odd. As in, we should try something new. Let’s attempt to make it more amusing and intelligent. As a result, I get to do stuff like that. I have the utmost faith in these folks because of what they’ve accomplished. You don’t want to muck up a flawless dish.”
