Cowboys vs Lions

RECAP: Cowboys vs. Lions

The first 30 minutes of Sunday’s game between Detroit and Dallas were marked by a defensive struggle, with Detroit’s defence guiding the team to a 6-3 halftime lead.

The game remained a defensive duel until the fourth quarter, but Dallas ultimately prevailed 24-6 thanks to the Lions’ offense’s four fourth-quarter errors. Detroit is now 1-5 on the year after the defeat.

The Lions’ defence was not to blame for Sunday’s defeat. The Lions’ offence failed to score a touchdown and committed crucial errors for the second straight game. With running back D’Andre Swift (inactive), wide receiver DJ Chark (on injured reserve), and slot receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown leaving with a concussion in the first quarter, Detroit was lacking offensive depth, but that doesn’t explain how poorly they’ve played the past two weeks.

Following Lions quarterback Jared Goff’s fifth interception of the year on the first play of the second half at the Dallas 18-yard line, Dallas scored the game’s first touchdown. Trevon Diggs was chosen.

Ezekiel Elliott’s 1-yard touchdown run gave Dallas 82 yards in seven plays and the Cowboys their first lead of the day at 10-6.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Lions had a 1st and goal at the Dallas 1-yard line and were in a great position to retake the lead. However, linebacker Anthony Barr at the half yard line was able to retrieve the ball when running back Jamaal Williams fumbled it.

Detroit’s defence did a good job of forcing a punt to give the offence another opportunity, but Goff was again intercepted, this time at the Dallas 47-yard line by cornerback Jourdan Lewis. With 2:46 remaining, Dallas converted it into another Elliott 1-yard score, increasing their lead to 17-6.

On Goff’s third error, a strip-sack fumble at the Detroit 23-yard line that Dallas recovered and scored on from two yards out to make the score 24-6, Dallas sealed the victory.

The game finished appropriately on two kneeldowns following another Goff fumble, Detroit’s sixth mistake of the contest.

QB comparison: Goff had a poor day and ended up misplacing the ball three times. He completed 21 of 26 passes for 228 yards in total while throwing two interceptions, two fumbles, and no touchdowns. He had a 71.2 passer rating after being sacked five times.

Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Cowboys, competed in his first match after suffering a thumb injury in Week 1. He completed 19 of 25 passes successfully for 207 yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions, and a 113.2 rating.

rookie start second-round selection After missing the first five games of the season to recover from a sports hernia surgery he underwent in the summer, Josh Paschal made his NFL debut on Sunday.

Paschal totaled two tackles throughout the game and received strong interior pressure.

Accident report: Late in the first quarter, St. Brown completed a 4-yard pass on a 2nd and 11 play at the Dallas 21-yard line. As he was falling to the ground, he was shot in the back of the head.

St. Brown shook his head and fell to his knees. He stood up, and a referee removed him from the action to be assessed. St. Brown spent some time in the sideline medical tent before exiting and heading straight to the locker room. The squad quickly declared him out due to a concussion.
