QB Cam Rising sits once again as Utah beats Baylor late in the game.

Utah quarterback Cam Rising missed his second straight game Saturday against Baylor due to an ACL rupture.

Without Rising, Bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson combined for 153 yards as the Utes scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, the second with 17 seconds remaining, to leave Waco with a 20-13 victory.

Rising increased his practise time this week, but sources informed ESPN that despite travelling with the squad, he was unsure of playing.

According to insiders, he is likely to return later this month. Utah faces Weber State next week before commencing Pac-12 play against UCLA on September 23, a plausible goal date as Rising practises more.

Rising established himself as one of the sport’s top stars last season, passing for 3,034 yards and 26 touchdowns before suffering an injury in the Rose Bowl. He has guided Utah to consecutive 10-win seasons and Pac-12 championships.

Utah scored 24 points despite not having Rising on Aug. 31 against Florida. The game’s first score came on a 70-yard long pass from Barnes to Money Parks, then Johnson ran for a 27-yard touchdown.

Baylor was also missing their starting quarterback, Blake Shapen, who tore his MCL in the season opener against Texas State. He is likely to be out for two to three weeks. Sawyer Robertson, a Mississippi State transfer making his first career start, finished 12-for-28 for 218 yards and two interceptions.
