PSG vs Maccabi Haifa

PSG dominated Maccabi Haifa 7-2 thanks to goals from Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar.

Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar all scored for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) against Maccabi Haifa for the second time this season as the French champions recorded an emphatic 7-2 win against Maccabi Haifa at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday to secure a place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Maccabi Haifa was eliminated from the competition.

After only 35 minutes of play, the top three attackers for the home team all reached the back of the net to put the hosts up 3-0. Messi then delivered another beautiful finish just before the break to conclude an eye-catching first-half offensive showing. This brought the game’s total goals to three.

Mbappe scored his second goal of the match in the second half with a curling effort, and the rout was completed with an own goal scored by Maccabi’s Sean Goldberg and a seventh goal scored by substitute Carlos Soler. There was very no letup in the second half.

Additionally, Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar each scored a goal in the rematch that took place in Israel a month ago, which PSG won 3-1. Up until Tuesday, when Goldberg scored an own goal, each of PSG’s previous 19 goals in the Champions League, dating back to the previous campaign, had been scored by a member of the “MNM.”

At the other end of the field, there were also short glimpses of defensive vulnerability, with Maccabi Haifa defender Abdoulaye Seck being able to reach the net twice with headers from set pieces either side of halftime to make the score 3-1 and then 4-2.

However, the outcome was never in question, as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were able to ensure their spot in the Champions League knockout round by winning with a game to spare.

Teams led by Christophe Galtier and Benfica both have 11 points, but Christophe Galtier’s side has a substantial lead in goal differential. Benfica is also qualified. Benfica will travel to Maccabi Haifa while Paris Saint-Germain will play at Juventus in the last round of group matches the following week.
