Nashawn Breedlove, the actor from the film 8 Mile, died at the age of 46.

Nashawn Breedlove, the actor from the film 8 Mile, died at the age of 46.

Breedlove debuted on the soundtrack for the 2001 film The Wash and portrayed the dangerous opponent Lotto in the 2002 film, which was partially based on rapper Eminem’s life.

On Tuesday, his mother reported his death on social media.

On Sunday, he died in his sleep at his home in New Jersey, according to TMZ.

Rapper Mickey Factz recognised him as one of the few people “to beat Eminem.”

“You will be missed for your tenacity and aggressiveness,” he said in an Instagram tribute.

“Nashawn was so humble and modest that he didn’t even know he had true fans,” read one remark beneath the post.

“No one could deny his talent,” his mother posted on Tuesday on Facebook.

“Nashawn’s death has left an enormous void in my life, one that words cannot fully express.” I can’t put into words how much sadness and hurt I feel.

“He was not just my son; he was a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path.”

Many people who paid respect to Breedlove recalled his part in 8 Mile, in which his character Lotto confronts Eminem’s B-Rabbit and raps, “I feel bad I gotta murder that dude from Leave it to Beaver.”

Despite losing the fight, his performance in the film had the whole audience cheering and applauding.

The film gained critical praise and was a huge financial success, earning an Academy Award for Best Original Song for Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”

Under his stage moniker Ox, Breedlove also contributed to the music of the 2001 comedy picture The Wash, starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

His cause of death is now unclear, according to TMZ, citing family sources.
