Naomi Osaka declares her pregnancy and her intention to play tennis again.

On social media on Wednesday afternoon, Osaka shared the details, a picture of a sonogram, and comments in both Japanese and English.
Osaka went on to say, “I know I have a lot to look forward to in the future, but one thing I’m looking forward to is for my baby to watch one of my matches and say, “That’s my mom,” haha.
The 25-year-old tennis professional gained notoriety after defeating Serena Williams, one of the most significant players on the court, in the U.S. Open Final in 2018. Following her victories at the Australian Open in 2019, the U.S. Open in 2020, and the Australian Open in 2021, Osaka quickly became one of just a handful of athletes to ever win their first four Grand Slam competitions.

The world’s highest-paid female athlete, however, opened up about her struggles with mental health after pulling out of the 2021 French Open. When she refused to take part in required media appearances, organisers threatened to eject her from the event and fined her $15,000.
In addition, after her defeat at the 2021 U.S. Open, Osaka declared that she would never again play tennis. For being so open about her mental health issues, Osaka received praise from many athletes in the media.
In a press conference, Osaka admitted to the media, “I honestly don’t know when I’m going to play my next tennis match.” I’m going to stop playing for a little while, I think.
Osaka’s announcement that she would not be competing in the 2023 Australian Open was followed by the announcement on Wednesday. Osaka did however mention in the social media post that she plans to compete in the 2024 Australian Open. The Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in September of last year was Osaka’s first tournament after she withdrew due to illness, and she will now play.
The time Osaka spent away from the sport also came to mind. The opening of Osaka’s own sports agency is scheduled for May, according to her announcement. Last month saw the release of an Osaka children’s book.
The last few years had been “interesting, to put it mildly, but I find that it’s the most difficult moments in life that may be the most enjoyable,” Osaka said on Wednesday. He also said that the extended break had given him “a new love and respect for the game I’ve given my life to.”
Cordae, a Grammy-nominated rapper, has been dating Osaka since the beginning of this year. They discussed their ongoing relationship and how they first connected at a LA Clippers game in a 2021 GQ spread.
In response to the support he gave her while she was in isolation for the 2020 U.S. Open, Osaka told the magazine, “I feel like he really really helped me win just, like, keeping up the motivation.”
Osaka concluded her note on Wednesday with, “I don’t believe there is a completely ideal route to pursue in life, but I always thought that if you go ahead with good intentions you’ll eventually find your way.”
