Moises Caicedo: Liverpool and Brighton negotiate a British record cost of £111 million to acquire the midfielder.

The cost is said to be approximately £111 million, with Caicedo scheduled to go to Liverpool for a medical on Friday. The agreement will also contain a sell-on provision.

Brighton set a bid deadline of midnight on Thursday, and if their appraisal was reached, they would go with the highest bidder.

Liverpool officially presented their application late Thursday night, after Caicedo expressed interest in moving to Anfield.

According to Sky Sports News, they were in talks with Brighton to determine all of the financial conditions of a transaction in case Chelsea couldn’t or wouldn’t strike an agreement.

Liverpool was notified just after midnight that they had won the offer. Personal agreements with Caicedo have been agreed upon, and preparations for all transfer procedures are currently underway.

Chelsea reportedly offered £100 million, but Bayern Munich said they would pay £90 million.

“Brighton had been adamant all summer that they wanted Moises Caicedo to stay, but Liverpool’s offer was too good to turn down for a player they paid £4.5 million for in 2021.” That’s a nice profit. And again another example of superb transfer business from the south coast club, after large profits from players like Alexis MacAllister and Marc Cucurella.

“The fact that the Seagulls are still expected to have a successful season and play entertaining football under Roberto De Zerbi demonstrates their successful business model and how well-run they are.”

“As for Liverpool, their transfer budget was significantly boosted this summer by the unexpected sales of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Pro League clubs for more than £50 million.” This enabled them to spend big on Caicedo, who cost more than twice what they were willing to pay for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

“At 21, Caicedo is a player with years ahead of him at the top of world football.” Last season, he was second in the Premier League in tackles and interceptions, demonstrating that he is already a top defensive midfielder. And it is a transaction that brings Liverpool’s midfield overhaul to a close.

“The centre of the park was a major problem area for the Reds last season, but with Dominik Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Caicedo coming in, and Trent Alexander-Arnold stepping out from right-back into his new hybrid role, Jurgen Klopp will have an exciting, youthful midfield to go into the new campaign with.”

Moises Caicedo was back in Santo Domingo, Ecuador, after his country’s World Cup loss last year, when other players were flying off to high-end vacation destinations, playing in a local competition on the same dusty surface he used as a youngster.

Caicedo, a budding Premier League star who had just became Ecuador’s youngest World Cup scorer, can be seen hitting the goal again in film that went viral in the nation, although this time as a ringer for Caicedos FC, a club made up of extended family members.

His near-post goal helped Caicedos FC win the competition, and he celebrated with a jump, a fist pump, and a sign of recognition to the few hundred people sitting or leaning on fences around the ground.

“This is Moises,” Miguel Angel Ramirez, Caicedo’s former coach at his childhood club Independiente del Valle, says with a grin to Sky Sports. “He’s returning to his village, to his family, to his friends, to play football and to help everyone there.” He never forgets his folks…”

Who will be moving this summer, when the transfer window starts on June 14 and ends on September 1 at 11 p.m. in England and midnight in Scotland?
