MacKenzie Scott ,52, who is a billionaire philanthropist files for a divorce petition at the King County Superior Court from her husband Dan Jewett after a year of marriage. Surprisingly Dan’s name was also removed from MacKenzie Scott’s charity group where fellow super-wealthy people pledge to donate their wealth before they die. He pledged this charity at the time of his marriage with MacKenzie Scott. They got married in 2021.
MacKenzie was earlier married to Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos. If New York Times reports are to be believed, then she also removed his name from her author bio on Amazon.
According to Bloomberg research, MacKenzie Scott’s net fortune worth is around $27.8 billion. After her divorce with Jeff Bezos, she donated around $12bn to charity. She gave $15 million to the Health Forward Foundation. She also donated her two Beverly Hills mansions worth $55 million to California Community Foundation last month. She donated $20 million to the Houston-based Episcopal Health Foundation.
Earlier Dan Jewett used to be a science teacher at a private School in Seattle before his marriage to MacKenzie Scott. He left his job due to his high-profile marriage to MacKenzie Scott. According to the report, Jewett did not ask to contest the divorce.
Scott ‘s first marriage with Jeff Bezos lasted for 25 years. She has four children with Bezos. During their separation Bezos tweeted “As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends. We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
