Ryan Gravenberch scored his first goal for Liverpool against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Dutch midfielder, who joined Liverpool in the offseason from Bayern Munich, scored off a rebound soon before halftime to put Liverpool up 1-0.

Liverpool’s second consecutive victory in the second-tier European tournament was subsequently clinched by Diogo Jota’s low strike in second-half stoppage time.

Alexis Mac Allister, a midfielder for Liverpool, began on the bench until going on as a substitute at halftime to replace his older brother Kevin, a defender with Belgian side Union.

The Reds lead Group E by two points, two points ahead of Toulouse, who defeated Austria’s LASK 1-0.

For the first time since 2016, Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League.

With goals from Lucas Paquetá and Nayef Aguerd, West Ham made it two victories in two Europa League games with a 2-1 triumph against Freiburg.

In the 66th minute, Aguerd headed in the winner from a James Ward-Prowse corner, the ball rebounding in off the underside of the crossbar.

West Ham, who won the Europa Conference League last season, took the lead in the eighth minute when Paquetá rose high to head home Jarrod Bowen’s cross.

After pounced on a rebound four minutes into the second half, Freiburg’s Roland Sallai equalised.

West Ham leads Group A with six points. Freiburg is still on three points, but TSC Baka Topola and Olympiacos are still on one after tying 2-2.

UEFA barred West Ham supporters from the game as punishment for events during the Europa Conference League final in Prague.

In Group B, Brighton earned its first point in European play when Joo Pedro scored a penalty two minutes from time to hold Marseille to a 2-2 draw in France.

The Seagulls trailed 2-0 at the break, thanks to goals from defender Chancel Mbemba and midfielder Jordan Veretout, before Pascal Gross equalised.

After reaching a club-best sixth in the Premier League last season, Brighton is playing in Europe for the first time in the club’s 122-year existence.

After Domagoj Vida rescued a 1-1 draw against Ajax in Athens, AEK leads the group with four points. Both Marseille and Ajax have two points.

Roma defeated Servette Geneva 4-0 thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s goal off a cross from Zeki elik.

It was Belgium’s fifth goal in seven games in all competitions. Andrea Belotti, another striker, also scored twice, with the other goal coming from substitute Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, is attempting to reach its third consecutive European final and is tied for first place in Group G with Slavia Prague on six points after the Czech team defeated Moldova’s Sheriff Tiraspol 6-0.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso celebrated his one year in command with a 2-1 victory against Molde.

The German club’s second consecutive Group H triumph came only days after it ascended to the top of the Bundesliga.

Last season, Alonso reached the Europa League semifinals before falling to Roma. Leverkusen took the lead in the opening 18 minutes, with to goals from Jeremie Frimpong and Nathan Tella.
