Late errors enable the Ravens to defeat the Panthers 13-3.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens were having trouble getting into the end zone until Baltimore’s takeaway-happy defence helped.

In the last 8:14 of the game, three Carolina turnovers were caused by Marcus Peters’ forced fumble, and Jackson took advantage of the short field to score on a 1-yard run and help Baltimore defeat the Panthers 13-3.

Coach John Harbaugh stated, “For us to be able to sort of convert… back into becoming a turnover-creating defence is really a major issue. We have some players that are ball hawks.

Baltimore increased its season-long turnover advantage to plus-9, and the Ravens (7-3) have now had at least one turnover in 12 consecutive games.

With 8:27 left, Justin Tucker converted two field goals, one of which broke the tie at 37 yards. Shi Smith, a Panthers receiver, was then forced to fumble, giving the Ravens the ball at the Carolina 31. With 7:16 left, Baltimore eventually scored the game’s only touchdown.

“In our own turf, we committed a turnover. Up until that point, the defence has been excellent, according to Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield. They were prepared for their first touchdown by that. On us, that. We didn’t make enough plays, to start. Two, we need to somewhat protect the ball in that second half.

Smith’s fumble was recovered by Marlon Humphrey, who then added an interception. In the last minute, Jason Pierre-Paul also intercepted a pass.

JPP could maybe catch that pass, right? said Harbaugh. “I’ve always had wonderful hands,” he said. That was amusing and pleasant in a way.

In 2015, Pierre-Paul suffered injuries to the thumb, middle finger, and index finger on his right hand as a result of a fireworks accident.

Despite spending the most of the game in offensive neutral, the AFC North-leading Ravens won their fourth consecutive game. On a frigid, windy day in Baltimore, Jackson completed 209 passes while throwing an interception, while Demarcus Robinson hauled in nine receptions for 128 yards. However, it was about all that either team’s offence could provide.

Through three quarters, the score remained level at three thanks to a series of 32-yard field goals by Eddy Pieiro and Tucker.

The Ravens have had some difficult fourth quarters, but this wasn’t one of them. The Ravens have led every game this season by double digits at some point. To set up Tucker’s second field goal, Baltimore travelled 67 yards in 12 plays, and Jackson’s touchdown gave the Ravens a 10-point advantage that seemed very secure.

Before officials later determined it was a turnover, Humphrey may have scored on Smith’s fumble if the play hadn’t been wrongfully halted.

Humphrey said, “We wanted a goose egg today. You can’t be too upset with three, but we’re really aiming to emulate outstanding Ravens defences from the past.

Before Tucker converted a field goal on the last play of the first half, Jackson had been intercepted once.

Jackson, who was absent from practise on Friday due to what he characterised as a stomach illness, said: “That’s November, December football.” You only need to win in order to go to the playoffs. That is now the main focus. There may be some ugly ones and some beautiful ones, but a victory is a win.

When he was in Cleveland, Mayfield was a frequent foe of the Ravens; he passed for 196 yards for the Panthers (3-8). After running for 389 yards and four touchdowns in his previous four games, D’Onta Foreman was restricted to just 24 yards on 11 attempts.

After an open date, Baltimore moved to 12-3 under Harbaugh, matching Pittsburgh for the best record in the league during that time.

SNAPPED

The longest streak since the 1985 Chicago Bears’ nine-game run of at least 150 rushing yards was achieved by Baltimore.

The Ravens were limited by Carolina to 115 yards on 30 carries.

OUTSIDE OF HOME

Since beating Arizona on November 14, 2021, the Panthers have not won on the road. Their record this year is 0-5.

In the NFL, “it’s difficult to win, period,” interim coach Steve Wilks said. “For us, success on the road is essential. Although we played hard, we weren’t good enough.

INJURIES

Raleigh LB During the first frame, Cory Littleton suffered an ankle injury. S Rookie T Ronnie Stanley and Kyle Hamilton of the Ravens both exited the game in the third quarter due to injuries to their ankles.
