Klopp acknowledges that Liverpool was “lucky” to win against Palace.

Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, said his team was “lucky” to get three points from Selhurst Park after a thrilling 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday in the Premier League.

For the most of the match, Liverpool was not at its best, and in the 57th minute, they fell behind due to a penalty awarded by Jean-Phillipe Mateta. However, Liverpool came to life when Palace winger Jordan Ayew received a second yellow card on the 75th minute, as Mohamed Salah scored a minute later and substitute Harvey Elliott scored an incredible winner in stoppage time.

“I am a very content manager right now, and I am aware that we were also fortunate. It is just the way things work; if you are excellent only when you win, you have no chance of being genuinely successful,” Klopp said at the press conference after the game.

We didn’t play a very strong game today. We performed poorly for 76 minutes. That’s all useful. After they were given a red card, we scored. That’s why I said that we were undoubtedly fortunate as well. However, our performance from 76 to 106 minutes was excellent since, as you are aware, you might have more issues than you have now while playing against 10 men. We changed the course of the game significantly; the substitutes had a big impact.

“The story of this season has been the substitutes making an impact off the bench. We tie the game if Harvey Elliott strikes the ball and misses; if Mo Salah is not there and the ball is not deflected, we lose. We earned it until the final fifteen to twenty minutes; before that, we deserved nothing.”

After the game, Klopp revealed he gave Salah a jersey in the dressing room to celebrate his 200th goal for Liverpool and 150th goal overall. Salah’s goal came on minute 76.

Klopp said, “It’s really impressive.” “After carrying the garment about for two weeks, we were finally able to deliver it to him. To be quite honest, that was probably the ideal time to score it.

“That is an amazing total for a very exceptional player, and I’m not sure how often he has kept us in the game with a goal that he scored at the perfect time. “I gave him the shirt with the ‘200’ on the back, and there was a pretty loud reception in the dressing room.”

Liverpool, who have already accrued 37 points from 16 Premier League games this season, will play Union St. Gilloise on Thursday to conclude their Europa League group stage campaign before playing host to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
