Kevin Hart rips his abdomen and ends up in a wheelchair after chasing former NFL running back Stevan Ridley.

It’s never a smart idea to challenge a former NFL running back to a footrace, particularly if you’re a 44-year-old comic. Kevin Hart learnt that lesson the hard way, and he is now confined to a wheelchair.

Hart described his injuries in a video shared on Instagram. He and Ridley disagreed over who would win a race, so they decided to resolve it by racing the 40-yard sprint. As one would assume, things did not go well for the world-renowned comedian.

Hart said he tore many muscles in his abdomen and described his injuries in excruciating detail. He also said that the experience served as a clear reminder that he is no longer a greenhorn.

“We get out there, and we go run the 40-yard dash,” Hart said. “The 40-yard dash. I blew all my s–t, guys. My abductors and lower abdomen were torn. I have no idea what it is, but I tore them. I tore them as well. I’m unable to walk. Put my a$$ down. This is number 44.”

The video drew a lot of attention from the celebrity world, with stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Will Smith responding.

Even if Hart hadn’t been injured, it’s difficult to see the race going well for him. Ridley played eight seasons in the NFL after an outstanding career at LSU, four of which he spent with the New England Patriots. Ridley ran for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012.

That’s not the sort of guy you want to challenge to a race, and Hart is unlikely to make the same mistake again.
