Kelly Rowland praised Chris Brown and told the crowd to chill down when they booed him at the AMAs.

Kelly Rowland praised Chris Brown and told the crowd to “chill down” when they booed him at the AMAs.

Rowland complimented Brown for “creating excellent R&B songs” when he won Favorite Male R&B Artist on Sunday night.

Sunday’s American Music Awards were controversial.

Kelly Rowland presented Favorite Male R&B Artist during the programme.

Brent Faiyaz, Giveon, Lucky Daye, The Weeknd, and Chris Brown were competing.

Crowd booed when Rowland mentioned Brown. She seemed astonished by the remark, but continued presenting, saying he wasn’t there.

Brown’s absence is unknown, however he may be in a conflict with AMAs producers over a Michael Jackson tribute he was supposed to lead.

Brown released practise video of the musical number over the weekend. The Instagram photo was titled “U SERIOUS?,” referring to the last-minute cancellation.

“WOULD’VE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for unexplained reasons,” he wrote.

Rowland said she’d receive the prize in Brown’s absence, but the crowd was outraged.

“Pardon…

She advised the audience to “relax down,” then supported the artist.

She said, “But I wanted to thank Chris for crafting wonderful R&B songs and for being an excellent performer.” “Bring me the prize. You’re great. Congratulations. Congratulations to all nominated.”

Since pleading guilty to beating Rihanna in 2009, Brown has been controversial.

Brands and radio stations severed connections with him after the event.

Brown has had popular success with successive albums despite public issues and legal troubles.

Given his background, Rowland’s backing of Brown disappointed several viewers, who took to Twitter to vent.

What is Chris Brown doing still receiving accolades and why is Kelly Rowland praising his ass?

“Chris Brown won a #AMA and Kelly Rowland silenced the crowd to thank him? Whew! Another suggested turning it off.

Others accused Rowland of “protecting” Brown, writing: “Kelly Rowland defending Chris Brown with her full chest.” Yikes.”

Meecham Whitson Meriweather called Rowland’s behaviour “embarrassing”

Not all spectators shared this opinion; several praised Rowland for addressing the audience.

Whitson Meriweather was questioned on his views and doubled back, stating that Destiny’s Child “shushed the crowd when they were upset.”

She complimented him for producing music, was delighted he won, and silenced the crowd when they were furious. Let’s not be obtuse, the cameras aren’t rolling.

Public figures have been attacked for praising Brown before. Lizzo was criticised in October for calling him her “favourite”

Lizzo asked Brown for a picture in a fan video. “Do you want a photo? Because I love you “saying,

As usual, fan reactions were mixed. Like Rowland, Lizzo suffered public wrath when she called Chris Brown her favourite person in the world.
