John Boyega surprised Erykah Badu when she interrupts her performance to flirt with him: ‘He’s under the age of 30? ‘Hell yes!’

Erykah Badu is a master of manifestation.

During a recent concert at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, the “On & On” singer interrupted her performance to tell the audience about her crush on John Boyega, only for him to surprise her on stage seconds later.

In video footage published by Netflix on Instagram, Badu invited the audience to say hello to Boyega if they saw him out and about. “There are a lot of people in the audience,” she continued, “which is why I wanted to say that.” “‘Cause there’s enough of y’all for one of y’all to get the message to the man, right?”

Badu then described Boyega as “fine” before asking the audience for further information about him. “What is his age?” Is he under the age of 30? “Hell yeah!” she said. “That’s what I’m referring to. The nuts are still tough. You know what I mean? That’s exactly what I’m searching for.”

Badu was in the midst of playing her 1997 hit “Tyrone” — a song she just re-recorded for Boyega’s new Netflix film, They Cloned Tyrone — when the actor surreptitiously made his way on stage behind her.

Badu instantly covered her face with her hands and started to chuckle when she saw him. “It’s John Boyega!” she said after the two exchanged a short embrace.

Badu ended the song with Boyega standing next to her before announcing their off-stage relationship. “I’m going back to the bus later.” Of course, after the performance. “I’ve got to finish this,” she added, alluding to her performance, as Boyega agreed. “Then we’ll return to the bus.” Is that correct?”

While she was finishing up the act, Badu had one particular request for Boyega. “Make sure you roll one up for me,” she instructed. “Thank you!” says the author.

Boyega then walked away, cheekily miming rolling a joint between his fingers.

“POV: Ur celebrity crush surprises you at work,” Netflix captioned the video. “Raise your hand if you want to take Erykah Badu’s place.”
