After four years of marriage and two children, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are separating. The Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce on September 5, according to Billboard.
According to the Today programme, which got the petition, the artist said in his appeal that his marriage to the Game of Thrones actress “is irretrievably broken.”
The news of their divorce was unexpected since the couple showed no symptoms of marital discord, with the actress exchanging selfies with the singer backstage at Jonas Brothers performances and mocking him on social media. In the days after the rumours of a divorce, the musician wore his ring onstage and even uploaded a selfie of himself wearing his wedding band hours before news of his divorce became public.
Though their relationship has ended, Jonas and Turner have not always had difficult times. Turner even claimed that she didn’t believe she’d ever married after becoming engaged to Jonas, who originally reached out to her through an Instagram DM in 2016. “I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,” she said in March 2019 to Rolling Stone. “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know.”

Sophie Turner was not a fan of the JoBros before meeting her husband. “My buddies and I were not fans of the Jonas Brothers… “We despised them,” she told Elle for the April 2020 edition. But everything changed when he sought out on social media.

They eventually met at a pub, where the musician won her over. “I expected him to show up with security and everything,” she said to Elle. “I thought to myself, ‘He’s going to be such a d-k.’
“We spoke for hours and hours and hours and hours. And I wasn’t bored at all. It wasn’t staged. “It wasn’t small talk — it was just so simple,” she said. “And we were soon, like, inseparable.” I joined him on tour.”
