Jared Leto climbed the Empire State Building, but why?

This morning, there was a guy mounting the Empire State Building in a red jumpsuit if you were strolling down 34th Street in Manhattan. In most cases, this would be reason for concern, but not in this instance. Jared Leto, the Academy Award winner, was just checking something off his bucket list.

Leto wasn’t training to be King Kong, despite his reputation for using dubious Method acting tactics when he got into character. Instead, the Morbius star scaled the monument in order to publicize his band 30 Seconds to Mars’s impending world tour, which is scheduled to take place in 2024 from March to September.

Leto did not climb to the top of the Empire State Building either. He started his ascent on level 86 and worked his way up the building’s east side to floor 104. Leto successfully completed the task of scaling all three levels of the building’s ice barrier, which took around twenty minutes. At the foot of the iconic lit antenna of the structure, he reached the summit of his climb.

The hero of Suicide Squad spoke about what it was like to climb one of the most famous monuments in the world in an exclusive conversation with Today. Leto said, “To tell you the truth, I was more excited than nervous.” However, I must admit that it was quite difficult. It was very challenging. It proved to be much more difficult than I had anticipated. It required a great deal of effort and endurance, and it was quite acute. He displayed his bleeding left hand, which he had cut open during the ascent, to demonstrate that the climb had been harder than he had anticipated.

The actor went on, “Watching the sun rise over the city that means so much to me is incredible.” “Since I was a little child, New York has always symbolized the city where dreams come true. And when I was a little child, I wanted to be an artist, and the place to become an artist was New York. And for me, that emblem has always been the Empire State Building.

Leto is a keen climber in addition to being an artist. In 2016, he traveled national parks such as Yosemite and Yellowstone for his five-part documentary series, Great Wide Open. Leto has a close friendship with Alex Honnold, the star of Free Solo. Leto told Today that while he enjoys places like Yosemite and Yellowstone, his true passion is scaling city skyscrapers; he even managed to scale a Berlin hotel wall without the need of a harness at one point. He said, “It’s a really fun thing to do.”

With the formal end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, maybe Leto will stop acting like Tom Cruise and return to his career. Leto may have nine lives—like Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette, whom he dressed up as for the Met Gala—but let’s hope he doesn’t stop climbing buildings.
