J. Cole regrets what Kendrick Lamar did.

J. Cole said that there’s a tune on his forthcoming album that he disapproves of, calling Kendrick Lamar names.
The rapper released a song called “7 Minute Drill” on Friday, the same day he debuted his album “Might Delete Later.” In it, he takes aim at another rapper in a verse.

At his music event, Dreamville Fest, on Sunday, Cole remarked, “I’m so proud of that project, except for one part.” I think, “Man, that’s the lamest s— I ever did in my f—— life,” when I think about that particular element of that s—. Furthermore, I am aware that not everyone wants to hear this.
As a guest rapper on Future’s and producer Metro Boomin’s song “Like That,” Lamar—the first rapper to receive the Pulitzer Prize in 2018—made jabs at Cole and Drake.
Lamar’s response to Cole and Drake’s phrase in “First Person Shooter,” when Cole referred to himself, Drake, and Lamar as the “Big Three” of rap music, can be heard in the song.
Following the release of “Like That” on March 22, questions over whether or not Cole or Drake will reply arose in response to Lamar’s verse becoming viral online. Many fans thought Cole and Drake should have responded to Lamar’s verse since it was so harsh.
On Sunday, Cole informed the audience that he attempted to politely “jab” back at Lamar, but it didn’t “sit right.” He expressed his hope that Lamar “didn’t feel no way,” but if Lamar was hurt, he would “take another dis on the chin.”
Cole’s onstage remarks were captured on camera, and fans of the rapper have been debating his dis track for days on X. Cole claims in the song that Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly,” his second album, lulled listeners to sleep and went on to win best rap album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
Since “TPAB” has received positive reviews from critics and consumers alike, several internet rap fans believed Cole’s criticism lacked substance.
Cole said to the Dreamville Fest attendees that he felt compelled to avenge Lamar.
Cole addressed the assembly, saying, “I felt conflicted because I’m like, ‘Bruh, I know I don’t really feel no way,’ but the world wants to see blood.”
He also apologized for his disdain for Lamar’s discography.
“What percentage of people believe that Kendrick Lamar is one of the best motherf——— to ever pick up a f——— microphone?” Cole said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
He said that he was “blessed” to be able to stand as peers with Drake and Lamar.
Drake hasn’t addressed the dis directly. At a recent Florida performance, he seemed to make mention to it.
Requests for response from Cole, Lamar, and Drake’s representatives were not immediately answered.
