On Tuesday, July 11, Malik was revealed as the newest guest on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast for his first interview in six years. In a sneak peek video shared on the podcast’s social media channels, Zayn explains why he decided to come back to the spotlight at this time in a more honest manner. “I feel like we were so overexposed in the band that’s why I took the time that I have to not even necessarily do interviews,” he said.
It’s simple to see why Malik feels that way given that One Direction released five studio albums, four global tours, two concert videos, a documentary, and six top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 2011 and 2015. Zayn also embraced his newfound love of “dad jokes” in the teaser footage and gushed about how his daughter had restored “the colour” to his life. On July 12, the Call Her Daddy interview with Zayn will be accessible. The release date of his newest song, “Love Like This,” is set for July 21.
