Harry Kane makes his Bayern Munich debut in a 3-0 defeat in the German Super Cup.

England’s Harry Kane made his official Bayern Munich debut on Saturday, coming in as a substitute in the club’s 3-0 loss to German Cup champions RB Leipzig in the Super Cup final in Munich.

The 30-year-old came on in the second half to a standing ovation from the Allianz Arena fans. However, it was insufficient as the team lost their season opening.

Dani Olmo scored a hat trick to help RB Leipzig win its first Super Cup.

It comes only hours after Kane declared on social media that he was quitting Tottenham Hotspur, where he had spent the previous 19 years, after signing a rumoured $126 million transfer agreement with Bayern Munich.

He was Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, with 280 goals in 435 games in all competitions. Despite his several goals for Tottenham, he never won a trophy with the club.

Kane explained his decision to quit Tottenham a day before the club’s opening game of the season: “I felt like this was the time to leave.” I didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unfinished business.”

Kane praised his teammates, coaches, managers, and Tottenham supporters in a separate video posted on his official social media sites. “I’ve done everything in my power to make you proud,” he added.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said that Kane would be “always welcomed back” to the club. “It should go without saying… He’s a much-loved and respected part of the Spurs family who will live on in our history.”

“However, Harry was clear that he wanted a new challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer.” As a result, we reluctantly consented to his relocation,” Levy stated.
