Fulham stuns Man United with a goal from Iwobi in the 97th minute.

In the Premier League on Saturday, Fulham stunned inferior Manchester United 2-1 thanks to a goal from Alex Iwobi late into stoppage time. It was the west London team’s second victory at Old Trafford since 1963 and their first since 2003.
United, who suffered their first league defeat in six games, now sits sixth in the standings with 44 points, eight points behind Aston Villa in fourth. With 32 points, Fulham is ranked 12th.

“I’m over the moon right now to come back into the team and get the win here — there is no better feeling,” Iwobi said. “We feel we performed really well and have been performing really well recently, it is just about getting the results.”
Calvin Bassey gave Fulham the lead in the 65th minute by launching his own rebound into the top of the net for the team’s first goal.
After the ball went off goalkeeper Bernd Leno, United defender Harry Maguire equalized in the 89th minute with a half-volley from inside the penalty area, and the home club seemed ready to rescue at least a point.
But in the 97th minute, after a counterattack, Iwobi—who had previously wasted two excellent chances—swept a shot past André Onana, who was fixed in his goal, into the bottom corner, leaving the home crowd stunned.
The BBC was informed by Fulham manager Marco Silva, “It is a big win for us.” “A wonderful sensation for our supporters, who cheered from the first sizzle to the last blow. The greatest team won the game, and the players earned it.
“We were the team which played better, created more chances and had more control of the game,” he said. “It is a fantastic feeling for us to come here and win against a side in a good run of form.”
When the final whistle blew, Silva joined his teammates in celebrating in front of the ecstatic visitor supporters.
Rasmus Højlund, United’s most dangerous attacker, was out due to injury. He had scored in their last six league games, but defender Antonee Robinson blocked two of Garnacho’s shots, and Leno made a diving stop to keep them out of the goal.
“We were probably naive in the end by throwing too many bodies forward and getting done on the counterattack,” Maguire said. “We’ve been on a good run of form and came into the game we were confident.”Rasmus’s injury, which has been a major source of focus for us, was unfortunate, but we must now identify the issues and areas that still need improvement.”
It was Fulham’s first away Premier League win in twelve. This season, United has lost more league games than they did in the whole 2022–2023 campaign—ten.
