ESPN’s Hislop is recuperating after falling on live during Real Madrid’s match against AC Milan.

Shaka Hislop, an ESPN pundit, is recuperating after collapsing on live TV before of Sunday night’s Soccer Champions Tour match between Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Hislop was midway through a pre-game programme on the Rose Bowl pitch with Dan Thomas when he fell. Before the television broke away, Thomas could be heard yelling for medical help.

Minutes after the event, Thomas tweeted that Hislop was conscious and being treated by medical personnel.

Thomas delivered an update on Hislop at the ESPN broadcast’s halftime.

“Obviously, my mate Shaka is not here, but as it stands, it’s good news,” Thomas added. “He’s awake and speaking. I believe he is embarrassed by it all. He’s apologised abundantly – he’s not a guy who enjoys the attention.

“Obviously, it’s far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is that Shaka is conscious, and we spoke with his family as well, because seeing that happen live has to be one of the scariest things for a family.”

“Fortunately, we spoke with his wife, and everything appears to be in order….” Thank you for your concern, and Shaka seems to be in good hands.”

Hislop, 54, spent 15 years in the Premier League as a custodian for Newcastle, West Ham, Reading and Portsmouth.

Hislop was the starting custodian for Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean country’s first World Cup in 2006. He left the company in 2007.
