Elliot Page reveals that a well-known actor told him that being gay ‘doesn’t exist’ and threatened him: ‘I’m Going to F— You to Make You Realise You’re Not Gay,’ he says.

In his forthcoming biography “Pageboy,” Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page recounts that he was once challenged by a homophobic actor at a Los Angeles birthday celebration (via People magazine). The year was 2014, and Page had just openly admitted to being homosexual at a speech at a Human Rights Campaign convention (“I’m here today because I am gay,” Page told the audience). Page subsequently revealed that she was transsexual in December 2020.

According to Page in the chapter fittingly headed “Famous A-hole at Party,” during the party, an actor he called a “acquaintance” approached him and stated, “You aren’t homosexual. That is not the case. You’re simply scared of males.” According to Page, the actor reportedly threatened him, stating, “I’m going to fuck you to make you realise you aren’t gay.”

When Page ran into him at the gym a few days later, he attempted to backtrack by stating, “I don’t have a problem with gay people, I swear.”

“I think you might,” Page said.

“I’ve had some version of that happen many times throughout my life,” Page said when asked why he included the anecdote in his book. “A lot of queer and trans people have to deal with it all the time.” These are the times that we frequently don’t speak about or are expected to shrug off, even if they are horrifying. I included that tale in the book to emphasise the reality, the crap we deal with, and what is continuously thrown at us, especially in places dominated by cis and heterosexual people.”

“I’m not sharing his name on purpose,” Page said. But he’ll hear about it and recognise it as him.”

“Pageboy” is currently available for pre-order, with a June 6 release date.
