Jude Bellingham’s shoulder injury will keep him out of Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Valencia on Saturday.
The 20-year-old midfield player had an uncomfortable tumble early in Sunday’s goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. Although he played the whole game, he did not come in as a replacement in Wednesday’s Champions League group stage triumph over Braga.
Bellingham’s availability for Saturday’s encounter was anticipated by Carlo Ancelotti at Friday’s pre-game news conference, but the club has already announced that he will not play.
“After the tests conducted today on our player Jude Bellingham, he has been diagnosed with anterior instability of his left shoulder, a consequence of his recent dislocation,” a Real Madrid statement said. Bellingham is not available for the Valencia encounter today.
Bellingham was added to the England team by manager Gareth Southgate for the forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against North Macedonia and Malta.
Bellingham will still report for England duty to be evaluated, Carlo Ancelotti stated, but he won’t be playing for Southgate’s team.
Ancelotti said, “Yes, he is going to England, but to be assessed.” “He cannot play for England if he is unable to play today. To strengthen his shoulder, he has to do particular exercises, which he will undertake over the next weeks. After the break, I believe he will be able to return.
Following their victory over Italy in October, England secured their spot for the event to be held in Germany next summer. It is unclear whether Bellingham will now report as scheduled.
An ankle ailment has already prompted James Maddison, a fellow midfielder, to withdraw from the team.
Madrid’s next match is against Cadiz on November 26, which comes after their match on Saturday against Valencia.
