Darren Waller and Kelsey Plum File for Divorce A Year into Her Marriage, WNBA Star Expresses Her Devastation

After a year of marriage, NFL tight end Darren Waller and WNBA champion Kelsey Plum have filed for divorce, PEOPLE can confirm.
According to court records PEOPLE was able to get, Plum, 29, and Waller, 31, jointly filed for divorce in Clark County, Nevada, on April 23.

Plum sent a devastating statement on social media shortly after the filing. “I’m inconsolable. I saw it’s time to leave, but I went through fire for that guy,” she said on Instagram Stories.
The Las Vegas Aces star went on, “God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends.”
“I’ll tell my tale sometime, but not now. I am grateful for the ability to accept my suffering, forgive, and move on. I’m going to choose joy now and every day. Love you, KP.
As she concluded her sermon, Plum wrote “Philippians 1:6.” It says, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Waller, a player with the Las Vegas Raiders, and Plum, a two-time WNBA champion with the Aces, started dating. It is said that they dated for almost a year prior to being married on March 4, 2023.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal claims that on January 22, 2023, Plum and Waller submitted an application for a marriage license.
Waller was transferred across the nation to the New York Giants not long after they were married.
Waller spoke to PEOPLE a few weeks prior to the divorce filing on his future goals and his thoughts on leaving football behind.
I’m now at the stage where I ask myself, ‘Is this something I want to keep investing my time, energy, and thoughts in?’ And I have to make a choice about it,” Waller said in reference to his possible NFL exit.
And it’s gotten to the point where I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything at all. My life hasn’t truly begun in some respects.”
“I’m a guy who’s into a lot more than football,” Waller continued to explain. “And football’s done a lot for me, I’m so grateful, but it’s a grind, and you’ve got to be 100% willing to suit up for it, and I’ve got to decide if I’m 100% or not.”
Plum is presently practicing with Team USA for the 2018 Summer Olympics in Paris and will begin her WNBA career in May.
