According to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau, Angus Cloud, the 25-year-old actor who played drug dealer Fezco in the HBO drama “Euphoria,” died of acute intoxication after an accidental overdose.
Mr. Cloud, who died in July, had taken cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and benzodiazepines, according to the coroner’s office.
The family had said that Mr. Cloud had “intensely struggled” with the recent loss of his father, and that he had been honest about his issues with mental health.
“He did not intend to end his life,” Mr. Cloud’s mother, Lisa Cloud, wrote in an August Facebook post. “When we hugged goodnight, we told each other how much we loved each other, and he promised to see me in the morning.” I’m not sure whether or what he put in his body after that.
“I only know,” she went on, “that he put his head on the desk where he was working” on art projects and didn’t wake up.
Ms. Cloud said that her son was in “deep grief” over his father’s death from mesothelioma, but that Mr. Cloud spent his last day cheerfully, reorganising his room and planning how he would financially care for his mother and sisters.
“It’s abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world,” Ms. Cloud said. “His difficulties were genuine. He offered and got a lot of love and support from his clan.”
Mr. Cloud died on July 31, and numerous “Euphoria” cast mates paid homage to him on social media.
Zendaya, who played Rue Bennett on the first two seasons of the sitcom, said on Instagram, “words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus,” alluding to his gentle eyes, brilliant grin, and contagious cackle of a laugh.
Mr. Cloud was honoured on Instagram by Sydney Sweeney, who portrayed Cassie Howard: “Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter.”
