Cillian Murphy wins the award for Best Sweater You Can Actually Buy.

Cillian Murphy is on a wild trip. Oppenheimer is nearing the end of its pre-Oscars campaign, having grossed over one billion dollars globally. The film received a record 13 nominations, including one for Oppie Murphy as best actor.

The Academy Awards are still five weeks away, but Murphy is continuing his long-standing history of stunting during press junkets—don’t forget his pre-SAG strike anti-Barbie red carpet suits and healthy sun-kissed look—with a very London-appropriate outfit from a legendary Irishman.

Murphy wore a cardigan from UK designer YMC, which stands for “you must create,” before an Oppenheimer BFI screening in London. The company’s midcentury appeal has just recently gained recognition. The Rat Pack cardigan, a YMC favorite, has a full-placket closure and collar, evocative of the style worn by several members of the Rat Pack in the 1960s. (Ryan Gosling has been seen wearing this kind of cardigan on his Barbie publicity run.)

YMC has been in the game since 1995, focusing on utilitarian designs influenced by labor and military apparel. Its small flourishes on each of its items may transform what might be plain clothing into something rather stunning.

Murphy wore the Rat Pack cardigan in a modest hue with horizontal and vertical navy and dark-blue stripes to the film screening. We like how the celebrity left his cardigan open to allow his white shirt show through, to tone down the very showy pattern—or “flashy” for the generally modest actor. If you want to test YMC’s cardigan but don’t like the stripes, the business offers the Rat Pack in a variety of colors (from solids to bold designs) and fabrics (from merino wool to acrylic).

Murphy’s specific Rat Pack cardigan is only available in a few sizes (and is now on sale), but the brand’s iconic knitwear is available in a variety of other variations. He may not have won the Oscar yet, but Cillian Murphy’s sweater flex wins us over.
