When the Boston Celtics play the New York Knicks on Saturday night, they want to extend their winning streak—which is now tied for the season—to eight games.
After the All-Star break, the Celtics defeated the Chicago Bulls 129–112 on the road on Thursday to win their sixth consecutive game.

Derrick White ended with 28 points, Jayson Tatum finished with 25, and Jaylen Brown contributed 21 to showcase Boston’s offensive depth. Out of 47 tries, Boston made 23 3-pointers. Each of Tatum and White attempted five attempts from beyond the 3-point line.

Tatum is one of the players being discussed as a potential MVP contender. He is scoring a team-high 27.1 points per game.
“There’s a lot of talented guys in this league right now,” Tatum said. Many men doing amazing things. Although I won’t score as many points each game as the other three or four people, I believe that voters are astute enough to see our team’s strengths and weaknesses. In other words, we need to contribute in many ways to the game even on nights when we score fewer in order to guarantee that we win every time. “I know I can score 30 a night, but that’s not necessarily what this team needs on a nightly basis,” the player said. essentially going back a step in order for us to improve. On Thursday, the Knicks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 110-96 to snap a four-game losing run. With 21 points and 12 assists in the victory, Jalen Brunson took the lead.
Bojan Bogdanovic scored 22 points for the Knicks, Josh Hart added 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Precious Achiuwa added 18 points and 11 rebounds. 15 of New York’s 34 3-point tries were made in the paint.
“Our teamwork was excellent in how we handled the ball,” said Bogdanovic, who finished with a 6-for-6 3-point shooting record.
The Knicks are still playing without guard/forward OG Anunoby (elbow), center Mitchell Robinson (ankle), and forward Julius Randle (shoulder). When the three of them return is a mystery.
According to Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, “We’re undermanned right now.” We are aware that we must play with extreme intensity since our starting frontcourt is missing. We are aware that if we take that action, we may succeed.”
This season’s fourth encounter between the Celtics and Knicks will take place on Saturday. The first three were won by Boston. The Knicks will try to outperform their current 19-8 home record.
“All we need to do is figure out a way to win,” Thibodeau said. “We have to scratch them out right now.”
