Cam Sutton of the Detroit Lions is sought in Florida in relation to a violent confrontation.

Cam Sutton, a cornerback for the Detroit Lions, is sought in relation to a Florida domestic abuse incident.
For an incident that occurred in the Tampa suburb of Lutz, Florida, earlier this month, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Sutton’s arrest on one count of domestic violence by strangulation.

According to Phil Martello, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, at around five in the morning on March 7, the department responded to a report of ongoing domestic abuse between Sutton, 29, and a female.
According to Martello, the victim had injuries that suggested an event had occurred, and the same day, an arrest warrant was issued. The agency asked for assistance in identifying Sutton in a statement shared on social media on Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office said in the post that Sutton could be using a Jeep Grand Wagoneer and gave the license plate number. According to Martello, Sutton is thought to be in Florida rather than Michigan.
“We served his warrant on the seventh because of all the evidence that we found there,” Martello said. We couldn’t locate him in Tampa; it’s likely that he left. That’s where we are at the moment. We have had a few hits on his license plate (on license plate readers), but we haven’t been able to locate him.”They’ve tried calling him, but they can’t get through, so they’ve released him. Our investigators have tried everything to reach him, so we wind up posting the information on social media.”
According to court documents, Sutton and Kortnee Alexander had a Zoom hearing on March 6 over their paternity, and on March 7 the case’s second hearing was postponed. The Free Press contacted Alexander’s lawyer, but there was a delay in responding.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Lions made the following statement on the situation: “This morning, we learned of the continued legal issues surrounding Cam Sutton. We’ll keep an eye on things and won’t be making any further comments for the time being.
Jason Setchen, Sutton’s lawyer, did not respond to a message asking for comment right away.
Sutton signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Lions last summer, but he had a dismal debut season. Despite starting all 17 regular season games, he had 65 tackles and had one interception. However, he struggled against the top receivers in the playoffs and towards the end of the season.
In order to strengthen their secondary this summer, the Lions signed Amik Robertson in free agency and traded for Carlton Davis III. With Robertson and Emmanuel Moseley as the team’s top backups, Davis was anticipated to start opposite Sutton as the team’s top cornerback.
Sutton has a $12.68 million cap hit for 2024 and is expected to earn $10.5 million this autumn.
