C.J. Stroud’s agency informs NFL that its prospects would bypass all pre-draft cognitive testing.

This season, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud proved that the worries regarding his pre-NFL Draft cognitive test results were unfounded, and now his agent is taking it a step further.

Athletes First is apparently instructing its 2024 candidates to skip any IQ tests in light of Stroud’s poor performance. While the agency does not represent any of the top quarterbacks in the 2019 draft class, its move may push other organizations to follow suit with their clients.

Athletes First is apparently instructing its 2024 candidates to skip any IQ tests in light of Stroud’s poor performance. While the agency does not represent any of the top quarterbacks in the 2019 draft class, its move may push other organizations to follow suit with their clients.

The Texans picked Stroud with the second overall selection from Ohio State, which proved to be a wise decision, as Stroud guided the franchise to the playoffs for the first time since the 2019 season. He did so while putting together an amazing season that earned him the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year honor. But, at times, he looked like the league’s MVP, completing 63.9% of his throws for 4,108 yards, 167 running yards, and 23 touchdowns in 15 games, with five interceptions.

Meanwhile, Bryce Young, the first overall choice, failed as quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. He apparently got a 98 on the exam. The Indianapolis Colts drafted quarterback Anthony Richardson fourth overall, and he allegedly scored 79. It’s pointless to make too many inferences about the seasons those signal-callers put together since injuries and surrounding individuals made each of them quite different.

Finally, whomever released the test results comes out the worst in this circumstance. Even while the creators ultimately notified the Wall Street Journal that Stroud’s findings may have been incorrect, their remarks were too late.
