Kelly Rizzo, Bob Saget’s widow, is pursuing a new relationship.
Rizzo, who was married to the “Full House” star until his death in 2022, has announced her romance with Breckin Meyer, an actor from “Clueless” and “Road Trip”.
Rizzo and Meyer visited a Grammy Awards watching party in Los Angeles on Sunday, where they posed for photographs and held hands.
She told E! News that after Saget’s death, it “took a while” for her to feel comfortable dating again and “to get to the point where I’m like, ‘OK, I think he’d be happy with it.’”
Rizzo, a blogger, married Saget in 2018. They met when the comedian wrote her a direct message asking her to one of his gigs, according to a TikTok post Rizzo made in 2021. “And then I was like, ‘Oh no, I kind of like him,” she remembered. She was the “Full House” actor’s second wife, after his marriage to Sherri Kramer, with whom he had three children from 1982 until 1997.
Saget died in 2022 after being discovered in a hotel room in Florida, where he was doing stand-up. The cause of death was found to be head trauma. Authorities “concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep,” his spokesman said.
Rizzo informed E! News that Saget’s three adult children, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer, approved of her new relationship. “It’s wonderful, it just meant so much to have their blessing,” she went on to say. “They are simply angels. And to have their support is quite valuable.”
Meyer was previously married to filmmaker Deborah Kaplan, with whom he had two daughters, until 2014.
In January, Rizzo paid homage to Saget on the two-year anniversary of his death, writing on Instagram that it “simultaneously feels like a week and an eternity” since his loss.
“I will forever be grateful that I got to share life with this extraordinary person for 6 years,” she said in a statement. What a gift. I am glad for the memories, images, and movies that bring back smiles, laughing, and sometimes tears. It was such a blessing to be able to experience his whole and all-encompassing love and heart.”
In an October interview with Extra, Rizzo said that she was “open” to dating again. “Even his daughters often say, ‘Kelly, that’s stupid. “Heavenly Bob wants you to be only happy,” she said. “‘Earthly Bob would have been like, ‘Not too happy.’”
