Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War

Bleach looks beautiful in Thousand-Year Blood War, exactly as it should.

After a ten-year hiatus, Ichigo Kurosaki is picking up his giant-ass sword once more to take part in the last match of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. The expectation for the original’s reappearance on Hulu is strong because it is a mainstay among anime fans worldwide and is frequently grouped with One Piece and Naruto as one of the “big three.” Additionally, following the viewing of an episode, everyone in Thousand-Year Blood War appears to be as stylish as they should.

The 2004–2012 season of the original series is picked up in the new program, which is made by the same studio, Pierrot. Almost exactly, the opening episode matches the first five chapters of the Thousand-Year Blood War storyline. Furthermore, it is clear from the first few frames of the new series that both longtime viewers and those who are unfamiliar with Bleach will likely need to catch up. Because it seems like Pierrot is just as determined to start up and finish the series as if there hadn’t been a break, you are immediately sucked back into the narrative. We witness mayhem in a dark, hidden lab in the Seireitei with little to no background. The series’ characters casually refer to themselves as “Gigai,” “Bankai,” and “Soul Reaper.” Certain moments, like the discovery that the warrior Asguiaro Ebern is a Quincy, will have more effect for those who are familiar with the characters and their significance in the larger universe.
