Bengals defense shuts down Seattle twice in the last minute to win 17–13 and raise their record to 3–3.

The Cincinnati defense ensured that the Seattle Seahawks were unable to score in the second half on Sunday as Joe Burrow was unable to get the ball in the end zone.

Geno Smith was intercepted twice by the Bengals defense. In the last 2:08 of the game, they also twice stopped the Seahawks on fourth down from within the Cincinnati 10 to secure a 17–13 victory.

The Bengals advanced to 3-3 heading into their bye week, having won two straight games for the first time this season.

“Winning ugly is preferable to losing pretty,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. “As soon as I left the field, that’s what struck me. Even though our attack seemed particularly weak at points, our defense once again came through for us, making some huge plays that let us leave the area.

With 35 seconds remaining, B.J. Hill hit Smith, forcing him to throw incomplete, and the Bengals stopped Seattle on fourth-and-8 from the Bengals 9.

Sam Hubbard sacked Smith on fourth-and-goal at the Bengals 6 on the Seahawks’ last drive, giving the ball back to Cincinnati.

Although Cincinnati punted six times throughout the game, allowing Seattle the late-game opportunities, they scored touchdowns on their opening two drives.

After Tre Brown intercepted Burrow to begin the third quarter, Evan McPherson’s 52-yard field goal was all Cincinnati could muster the rest of the way.

Burrow said, “We definitely had opportunities that we didn’t take advantage of, but we still won.” “If you win this one, things will be much simpler to solve than if you lose. I will never, ever apologize for my victory.

Kenneth Walker’s 1-yard touchdown run on the game’s first possession gave Seattle (3-2) its lone touchdown. Twice in the second half, Smith was picked off. Throughout his 27 for 41 for 323 performance, he was dodging the Cincinnati pass rush.

Burrow completed 185 yards 24 for 35. Ja’Marr Chase caught six passes for eighty yards on thirteen targets.

Following Smith’s 11-play, almost 6-and-a-half-minute drive that culminated in Walker’s touchdown run, Burrow’s time came.

It took 13 plays for the Cincinnati quarterback to reach the end zone, and Tyler Boyd was able to catch the 8-yard touchdown throw.

Burrow led the Bengals 73 yards for another touchdown after a punt by the Seahawks. He had excellent protection while operating from the 3-yard line, which allowed him to wait for Andrei Iosivas to break loose and reach the end zone.

Third-quarter drive that started on the Cincinnati 5 was halted when Cam Taylor-Britt intercepted a pass intended for Tyler Lockett, giving Seattle a short field. Jason Myers’ field goal from 23 yards out reduced the Bengals’ advantage to 14–13.

In the fourth quarter, Taylor-Britt picked off Smith and returned the ball to the Seattle 34, where the Bengals once again failed. After Burrow completed three incomplete passes, one of which struck a defender in the back, McPherson’s 52-yard field goal made the score 17–13.

Julian Love, a safety for Seattle, said it as “very frustrating.” Overall, it was a nice game. It’s evident that the stat sheet and other materials don’t accurately reflect what really occurred on the field.

FIRST HOUR

On his 24th birthday, Iosivas made his first-ever touchdown catch in the NFL. Iosivas was drafted by the Bengals in the sixth round out of Princeton. Burrow went to the referees after the catch to request the ball he had given the little receiver to retain.

When asked whether it was the finest birthday of his life, Iosivas said, “It’s right up there.” “When I was younger, I had a few nice ones. Similar is a TD on your birthday.

SUCCESSES

Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo was hit hard by Cincinnati CB Dax Hill in the third quarter, prompting a concussion evaluation. Hill received a warning for being too harsh. Orlando Brown Jr., an offensive lineman for the Bengals, was sidelined in the fourth quarter due to a groin injury.
