‘American Idol’ Premiere: The Most Explicit Moments

It’s the show everyone has been looking forward to. “The Idol,” starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, aired on HBO on Sunday night and, unsurprisingly, was replete with racy scenes. Following reshoots and claims of toxic behaviour by creator Sam Levinson, the series has been dogged by controversy, but the cast has stood by the director.

“Never have I felt more supported or respected in a creative space, my input and opinions more valued,” Rose-Depp said in a statement released in March in response to the allegations. “Working with Sam is a true collaboration in every way — he cares more than anything about what his actors think about the work, but also how we feel performing it.” He selects individuals whose work he admires, and he has always made me feel seen, listened, and valued.”

Depp plays Jocelyn, a pop artist who is recording a music video as the pilot starts. She is working on a return after cancelling her tour in the aftermath of her mother’s death — and she may be on the verge of a nervous collapse. However, as one of her managers points out, “mental illness is sexy.” That’s why, for her cover image, she’s wearing a medical bracelet. (There’s also an unusual parallel with Simone Biles, who prioritised her mental health as well.)

During the session, she informs the photographer that she wants to go entirely topless but is unable to do so because to her rider. Her boss (Hank Azaria) solves the problem by locking the intimacy coordinator in the lavatory and paying a colleague $5,000 to keep the door closed.

during she seems to be confident for her team, it is evident that she is suffering during recording; yet, the team watching is happy of her, comparing her to Britney Spears. Meanwhile, everyone learns that a picture of her has been published online – a selfie she snapped while covered in bodily fluids.

She is unhappy when she learns about it, but she realises that it might be worse, so she goes to a club to decompress. There, she meets Tedros (Tesfaye), the proprietor of the club, a modern-day cult leader with whom she has a hallway hookup. She masturbates while choking herself once she gets home.

With that, she invites him over and expresses her dissatisfaction with the album’s progress. She plays him her next song, which she believes is shallow, at her studio. He offers to assist, instructing her, while sliding an ice cube up her calf, that she should “sing it like you know how to fuck.”

He then begs her to trust him; she says she doesn’t, but she lets him remove her robe and wrap it fully over her head. When he tightens the belt around her neck, she begins to choke. He tells her not to be terrified as he takes out a knife and pokes a hole in her mouth so she can breathe again.
