Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara, the Saint’s running back, won’t take the field against the Vikings in London due to a rib injury

Alvin Kamara, a running back for the New Orleans Saints, won’t be participating in the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to NFL Network’s Stacey Dales.

Dennis Allen, the head coach, told Dales before the official inactives list was released that Kamara will miss the Minnesota Vikings game in London in Week 4. Officially, Kamara was one of New Orleans’ seven inactives.

Coming into Sunday, Kamara (rib) was listed as questionable—the third week in a row. The five-time Pro Bowl running back did not participate in Week 2 but did in Week 3.

Jameis Winston, the Saints’ starting quarterback, was previously listed as doubtful on Saturday but is now officially out with a back injury. For New Orleans, Andy Dalton will start at quarterback.

Over the duration of Kamara’s career, New Orleans is 3-6 when he is not present. Without him in the lineup, the Saints have dropped their last five games.

Kamara played all 16 games of his debut season in 2017, which was the season. Since then, Kamara has struggled with injuries, missing multiple games in three of the last four seasons and at least one game per season since 2018.

In the absence of Winston, Kamara, and wide receiver Michael Thomas on Sunday, the Saints offense will look very different.

The Saints will be led by Dalton as they attempt to avenge two straight defeats. Dalton, a three-time Pro Bowler for the Cincinnati Bengals, will make his fourth career start this season. He made six starts for the Chicago Bears last season. Dalton showed promise during his preseason games with New Orleans, and the Saints may prefer having a healthy “Red Rifle” to Winston, who is now limited by an injury.

The Saints will probably rely more on veteran Mark Ingram and Dwayne Washington in the backfield to replace Kamara.

At 9:30 a.m. ET on NFL Network, the Vikings (2-1) and Saints (1-2) will begin the game.
