Jelly Roll needs your help. Regardless of age, he encourages followers to never give up on their aspirations. At Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 8, the country singer took home the 2023 CMA Awards’ new artist of the year title. She then made an electrifying statement.
After kissing wife Bunnie Xo and hugging fellow candidate Zach Bryan, the musician went on to the stage to receive the prize while his song “Need a Favor,” which he performed with Wynonna Judd to open the show, played. Lady A revealed his name.
I have a thousand people to thank, but above all, my wife and my lord—I adore you both so much; you have completely transformed my life, sweetheart. He called out Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney, and Hailey Whitters, the other contenders in the category, saying, “I love all of you all—we’re friends.” And Zach Bryan—you’re not only a country music star, I believe you’re one of the sexiest things on the planet! You are as worthy of this as anybody else! I’m pleased we’re spending the rest of the night partying there because I adore you, sweetheart.
Subsequently, Jelly Roll accelerated his speech and delivered an empowering speech to his audience.
Above all, there’s a poetic quality to a 39-year-old guy being named the winner of the new artist of the year award. I want to encourage you to keep moving forward, darling, even if I have no idea where you are in life or what you are going through. With every word, his voice becoming stronger and the live audience supporting him, he shouted passionately, “I want to tell you, ‘Success is on the other side.’” I want to reassure you that everything will work out. I want you to know that there’s a reason the windshield is larger than the rearview mirror: what’s in front of you matters much more than what’s behind you.
As the crowd in the stadium gave him a standing ovation, he said, “Let’s party, Nashville!” and raised his trophy in victory to round off his speech.
Jelly Roll was nominated for five prizes in all, including new artist of the year. In addition, he was nominated for male singer of the year, musical event of the year, single of the year, and music video of the year for his song “Need a Favor.” The country music icon is also a finalist for many 2023 Billboard Music Awards categories, including best new artist and top rock artist. On November 19, the BBMAs will broadcast on BBMAs.watch as well as the Billboard and BBMAs social media outlets.
Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning served as the hosts of the 2023 CMA Awards once again. ABC broadcasted the program live.
