After falling to the Denver Nuggets for the third consecutive game, the Lakers are on the verge of elimination.

In Game 3 of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, the Denver Nuggets advanced to the second round with a 112-105 win led by Aaron Gordon (29 points, 15 rebounds), Nikola Jokic (24 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists), and the team.
The reigning NBA champion Nuggets defeated LeBron James and the Lakers 11 times in a row thanks to 22 points from Jamal Murray.

Denver, which began with their sweep of the Western Conference finals the previous season, gained control in the third quarter and coasted to its sixth consecutive road victory against Los Angeles with 20 points from Michael Porter Jr.
In Los Angeles on Saturday night is Game 4. Never before has an NBA club overcome a 0–3 playoff deficit.
With a play-in victory against New Orleans to secure the seventh spot, Los Angeles, who had played mostly well before the holidays, advanced into the playoffs led by Austin Reaves, who finished with 22 points.
However, the Lakers’ nightmare opponent in the conference finals a year ago was the Nuggets, just as it was for any opponent.
Though they can’t do it alone, Davis and James once again shown their excellence. In Game 3, the Lakers missed fifteen of their first sixteen 3-point tries, going over 34 minutes without a 3-point basket.
In twenty-four minutes of action, D’Angelo Russell failed to register a point for the Lakers, who managed only two assists from their erratic third option. Six of Russell’s seven efforts at field goals were missed.
As Denver grabbed control, Gordon scored his most points in his most prolific game in the Nuggets’ previous two postseason appearances, which included ten points in the third quarter. Jokic just missed his 17th career triple-double in the playoffs after making nine of his thirteen shots.
The second-seeded Nuggets won both of their games in Denver to start their championship defense; they pulled away late in the first game and then pulled off a thrilling comeback in the second, which was sealed by Murray’s game-winning jumper at the minute.
According to Davis, the seventh-seeded Lakers were left feeling irritated, outmanned, and sometimes bewildered after squandering a 20-point lead in the second half of Game 2. Davis said that the Lakers periodically don’t know what they’re doing when confronted with Denver’s offensive variety.
After Game 3, none of those issues had been resolved, and now James’ incredible 21st NBA season is only one victory away from coming to an end for the Lakers. Los Angeles hadn’t hosted a game in sixteen days and hadn’t triumphed there since March 24.
The Nuggets easily defeated the skilled Lakers through three games in the playoffs last season, going 16-4 overall. They seem capable of rolling through the postseason once again.
Even with the Lakers’ regulars performing well, a game against Denver is harsh. Russell’s vanishing act was made worse by starting guard Rui Hachimura, who finished with only five points and four shots in 28 minutes.
With a 24-10 run to open the second half, driven by Gordon and Murray, who combined for 19 points in the third quarter, Denver overcame a narrow halftime deficit to take a 10-point lead. Throughout the fourth quarter, the Lakers never came closer than eight points.
A small handful of Lakers supporters screamed “Fire Darvin!” at Lakers coach Darvin Ham as the Lakers’ supporters exited the arena in the closing minutes.
Spencer Dinwiddie scored eight points to lead the Lakers, who had not scored off the bench since Taurean Prince, the lone Los Angeles reserve who scored in the two games in Denver, despite Hachimura and Russell’s problems making it meaningless.
After missing action since February 1 due to an injured right foot, Lakers swingman Jarred Vanderbilt did not make a comeback. Christian Wood and Cam Reddish were still out due to injury, but Ham said the club would provide major information on Friday.
