Jared “Drake” Bell, an actor best known for playing the lead in the Nickelodeon television series “Drake & Josh,” was discovered unharmed on Thursday, hours after Florida officials declared him to be “missing and endangered.”
Bell was in contact with police authorities and was not in danger, according to Carrie McCallister, a spokesperson for the Daytona Beach Police Department, in an email.
McCallister said, “At this moment we can affirm law enforcement officers are in communication and Mr. Bell is safe.
Bell was listed as “missing and endangered” by the police department in a statement released hours earlier, and they pleaded with the public for assistance in finding him.
Bell was last seen Wednesday night at a Daytona Beach high school before being discovered around noon on Thursday.
Requests for comment from the actor’s 36-year-old representatives were not immediately fulfilled.
Bell started performing when she was young and gained notoriety with Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show” and then “Drake & Josh.” Bell and Josh Peck’s Nickelodeon series lasted from 2004 to 2007 and was supported by two films. Since that time, Bell has mostly worked as a voice actor in addition to small parts in obscure TV shows and films. He started a career in music as well.
Bell was accused with child endangerment in 2021 in relation to a girl who was 15 years old in 2017 when she attended one of his concerts in Cleveland and had met him online years earlier. He admitted admission to a misdemeanour charge of transmitting material harmful to minors and a felony charge of attempted child endangerment, and was given a two-year probationary period as punishment. He was permitted to complete his 200 hours of community service and probation in California.
